It is the final game of the weekend series for everyone taking the diamond, as we close another week of betting baseball totals, which means we will be exactly 19 weeks into the season.

For my MLB picks on totals for today, sometimes it just works out this way, there are legitimately eight teams with no shot of making the playoffs and three of them among the total of six are in this group.

Time to tear apart the MLB odds and see what looks appetizing.

Crooked Numbers Rule at Tropicana Field

As I mentioned here yesterday, Tampa Bay has been in a real rut offensively, averaging 2.2 runs per contest going into Saturday. Today we will have a precise indication of just how bad this slump really is when they face Seattle's Yovani Gallardo. The seemingly almost washed up Gallardo is only 31, but he's dropped about 5 MPH on his fastball since his prime with Milwaukee and has a 5.84 ERA. The Rays Blake Snell (4.79 ERA) is not exactly missing a myriad of bats as his 4.89 ERA suggests. With the total at 9, my pal Gallardo is 14-4 OVER in road games vs. teams whose hitters strike out seven or more times a contest since last year.

K.M. and J.V. Keep the Number Low in the Motor City

Figuring his time was up in Detroit, Justin Verlander (4.11) turned his season over seven straight starts and lowered his ERA nearly a run (0.99) before finally having a poorer outing in Texas his last time out. The competitive right-hander has to be looking forward to facing baseball's best in Los Angeles and will have a strong effort. Verlander will duel with Kenta Maeda (3.86), who has an ERA hovering just over 2.00 the past five times he's toed the slab. Kate Upton's fiancé has turned it up the second half of the past two seasons and is 19-7 UNDER, which is why I will grab the UNDER 9.5.

Ugly Matchup That Produces Few Runs

Unless you have Phillies or San Francisco Giants jersey in your closet, that is probably getting dusty by this time of this season, there is no curb appeal to the series finale. If you like betting baseball however, it might be worth following the score, because runs are not anticipated to be plentiful. Sportsbooks sent this one out at 7.5 based on three factors. The first two are the crummy offenses the Phils and Giants have and Madison Bumgarner (2.99) is scheduled pitcher. While Philadelphia's pitching could prove me wrong, the average total score when Mad Bum has been the favorite in 2017 is 6.2 runs.
