In another 10 days, this will be a great example of a super-surger vs. a towel-tosser! But for now we take a look into this game and provide a expert MLB Pick.

Detroit Tigers (Fulmer) vs Chicago White Sox (Turner)
In a rain-shortened, Thursday night start to this 4-game, weekend series, the Detroit Tigers emerged with a 2-1 victory. Tonight, the 4-game set continues with an 8:10 ET start. Clearly, it is a pitching mismatch with Fulmer against Turner. With the Tigers having a clear hitting advantage and ample run line support, we look to make this run line play on Detroit. In another 10 days, this will be a great example of a super-surger vs. a towel-tosser! Watch for my ratings on these teams on August 2nd, as they will provide us huge profit in August by fading these towel-tossers in key run line situations.

The Chicago White Sox started on an uncharacteristic 23-10 break from the gate. They are still led by the top of the rotation duo, Sale and Quintana, who are tough to PLAY AGAINST. But, any other CWS pitcher is fair game. For, since that hot start, the White Sox have gone 23-39 and are quickly fading from contention. Their current nosedive is 1-7, which has dropped them to 46-49 for the year (10 games behind Cleveland for the Central Division lead and trailing no fewer than 7 teams for any Wild Card hopes). In short, once the trading deadline passes, expect the White Sox to be on our list of towel-tossers. Tonight’s starter, Turner, does not figure to be a savior. Replacing Rodon in the rotation, Turner travels to the big leagues, following a AAA season in which he made 18 starts, went 4-7 with a 4.71 ERA. He made his Major League debut this season against LA Angels, lasting just 4 IP while allowing 8 runs.

His mound opponent this evening is Fulmer, who is in line for the American League Rookie of the Year. In his previous 10 starts, Fulmer has gone 7-1 with a minuscule 0.83 ERA. Detroit clearly has a hitting edge with a .765 batting OPS to .709 for the White Sox. And, unlike the White Sox, they remain in the Wild Card conversation as the season enters the final 2 months.

We make the run line play backed by not only the information above but also with the knowledge that 18 of 23 White Sox home losses have been by 2 or more runs. I invite you to put the MLB odds in your favor and join me in my MLB pick on the Detroit Tigers tonight.
