Tigers are still in the hunt for a wildcard spot in the American League. Today they are the small road favorite at Minnesota and every game counts. Can Detroit pick up a key road win or will the Twins pull off the upset?

Detroit Tigers
Matt Boyd gets the start for Detroit and comes in with a 4.43 ERA and 1.31 whip while Detroit has lost the last two times he has started on the mound.  Although he pitched decently enough two games ago versus the Twins in his last start against them just last week he got shelled for seven earned runs off of eight hits in just under four innings of work. Coming into this game he holds a 5.74 ERA versus Minnesota this season allowing 10 earned runs off of 16 hits in 16 innings of work in three appearances. Despite those numbers, it makes sense to make the Tigers the favorite considering their record and offensive lineup but still this gives value I believe in backing the Twins getting some plus money.  The Tigers have struggled just a bit at the plate this week as well averaging just three runs per game in their last 10 contests.

Minnesota Twins
Tyler Duffey gets the start today for Minnesota and comes in with a 6.39 ERA and 1.52 whip while allowing six earned runs in just four innings versus Detroit in his last outing. Probably the most surprising thing in this matchup is the fact that he is not a bigger underdog considering the Tigers have had their way with him this season. Still, I believe this is a spot where he is simply due because outside of his game versus Detroit in his last three home starts he has been solid allowing just five total earned runs in 18 innings of work. This a good bounce back spot for him. At the plate, Minnesota is one of the best-losing record hitting teams in the American League and although they didn't do much in their last three games against the Mets this team can hit. In their last series versus Detroit, they won two out of four games and scored 21 runs, expect them to score as well today.

Detroit Tigers vs Minnesota Twins
Oddsmakers naturally have Detroit as the favorite in this spot since this is a more meaningful game and they have a much better record. Right now you can grab the Twins though at some good plus money value across the board which makes them my MLB pick like at Pinnacle sports +117 now offering very tempting welcome bonuses. This a good spot to take Minnesota to play spoiler.
