Now that it's confirmed that the United States is dealing with exceedingly high temperatures, will this be a factor in the final score in tonight's respective MLB games? Check out our MLB Picks of the Day with analysis.

Detroit Tigers vs Chicago White Sox
Is Sale for Sale? Now, that we know that the Chicago White Sox are going nowhere at 46-50, it's been discovered that the team from the south side has been shopping around our starting pitcher, Chris Sale (14-3, 3.18 ERA), and we don't know how Sale will react to this bit of news. When some players know that they're going to be traded, they flop and then excel somewhere else and other players look to showcase their talents before they're traded.

We certainly know that with a 3.18 ERA and 14 wins to his credit, the White Sox offense has given Chris Sale plenty of run support and he'll need it tonight as he faces a Detroit Tigers (51-46) squad, who have won 2 straight and 6 out of their last 10 games. Detroit is looking to get back in the divisional race as they trail the Cleveland Indians by 6 full games and offense is the name of the game for Detroit. It's obvious that this game will come down to the effectiveness of Sale vs. the heavy hitters in the Tigers lineup. Detroit should be a nice value pick here as the betting underdog.

The Best Hitter In the MLB in The Last Decade
Just when I was losing a little faith in Miguel Cabrera, he comes up with his 1500th career RBI and he went a perfect 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and a run scored last night. Ian Kinsler has been beasting all season long. If the Tigers can get Miggy to play anywhere near his usual standards, they will be a tough team for any opposing pitcher to pitch against, including Chris Sale.

Cabrera has his batting average up to the magic .300 mark and has 19 HR and 56 RBI for the season. He's also 10 for his last 25 (.400) at bats with 1 HR, 3 RBI, and 2 doubles. Cabrera might be lacking in power according to his usual standards, but look for him to come into this game with a ton of confidence.

After Chris Sale had two really rotten starts against the Braves and Astros, he returned to his usual form, throwing 8 innings of 1 hit ball against the Mariners in his last outing. That said, he received a no-decision and even if he pitches well here, he could possibly see the same thing as the Tigers offense is one of the best in the game. Make this a small MLB pick and fade Sale and the White Sox.

Minnesota Twins vs Boston Red Sox
When you don't know the status of the catalyst of your baseball team, you're in bad shape. Although the Boston Red Sox are 54-40 and possess one if not the best offense in baseball, Mookie Betts went down with an injury in yesterday's 2-1 loss to Minnesota although he still managed to smack a home run. This could be a huge loss for the Sox as Betts (20 HR, 63 RBI, .307 BA, 16 SB) set's the tone for this team and has a huge upside.

So much, that he can be in an elite group of leadoff hitters in baseball history is he continues to play like this. I know that I'm getting ahead of myself, but the guy is that good. It's a monstrous loss for Boston. To cushion the blow tonight, David Price (9-7, 4.36 ERA) get's the start tonight against a Twins team (36-60) that he should clearly handle.

In his last start and for most of the season, Price has underperformed as ERA is the barometer for a great pitcher. However, in the month of July, Price has returned to his old form with a 2.49 ERA. In 21 2/3 inning, he has 3 walks and 21 strikeouts.

The "Price" Is Right?
The one thing that David Price has been unable to do is prevent the opposition from getting on base. He's allowed opposing hitters to hit .262 off of him and that's rather high for a pitcher of his caliber. Tonight is a good spot for Price. Look for him to shut down the Twins offense as there's not much there. Eduardo Nunez, Joe Mauer, and Brian Dozier are good hitters, but not world beaters. Also, with the loss of Betts, we might see the Red Sox, who are used to scoring a ton of runs, have another possible ineffective showing as they did last night. 9 1/2 runs on the MLB odds appears to be too many in this contest. The under is the definite pick.
