Our resident MLB handicapping professional shares his two totals picks for Thursday night as he focuses on the Reds/Pirates and Cardinals/Marlins games.

Reds (DeScalafani) vs. Pirates (Burnett) 7:05 PM ET
In seven road starts this season the Reds Anthony DeScalafani has posted a stellar 2.58 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and opponents have a paltry team batting average of .198.

The Pirates A.J. Burnett has been lights out in six starts at PNC Park in Pittsburgh this year. In those outing he’s compiled a brilliant 1.27 ERA. Burnett has gone 12-2 under the total at home since 2013 versus opponents with a losing record. He’s also displayed very good form during his previous three starts, posting a shining 1.59 ERA, and amassing better than a 4:1 strikeout to walk ratio. The Pirates have struggled offensively of late, averaging just 2.6 runs per game, and possessing a terrible team batting average of .212 during their last seven outings.

I’ll have a small lean toward a low scoring game and that will be one of my free baseball picks for Thursday. After shopping all the major sportsbooks, 5Dimes provides the best price regarding wagering on under the total.

MLB Pick: Reds and Pirates under 7.5 (-120) at 5Dimes.

Cardinals (Lynn) vs. Marlins (Haren) 7:10 PM ET
Lance Lynn has been in good form over his previous three starts, and that’s evidenced by a sparkling 1.93 ERA in those outings. All three of those games went under the total. As a matter of fact, Lynn has gone 9-3 under the total this season with a solid 3.07 ERA. The Cardinals pitching as a whole has been nothing short of spectacular so far in 2015. They’re allowing an average of only 2.9 runs per game, and have a magnificent bullpen ERA of 2.13.

Dan Haren has been far and away the best starting pitcher for the Marlins this year. In seven home starts, Haren has posted a superb 2.32 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. The Marlins right-handed hurler has displayed excellent form over his previous three starts, and that’s evident by a miniscule 0.72 WHIP during that time. Miami is averaging just 2.3 runs per game, and is hitting a miserable .210 as a team in their last seven. The Marlins have also 10-3-2 under the total in their previous fifteen games overall, and 12-4-1 under in its last 17 at home.

I like this game to be a low scoring affair. When looking to wager on the under in this game, I found Pinnacle to possess the best betting value.

MLB Pick: Cardinals and Marlins under 7.0 (-102) at Pinnacle.
