Let's be extra careful with where we place our money on Thursday. Here we highlight which value money-line and total picks stand out most to our cappers.

Atlanta Braves (Minor) vs. Boston Red Sox (Peavy)
Covered by Ron Patrick & Jeff Grant
Hey Red Sox fans: that's more like it, right? The Red Sox have won three straight, all of which have come at the expense of the Braves, who are now just a half-game up on the Marlins for the top spot in the NL East. Jake Peavy and Mike Minor get the starts in the series finale tonight, and we have two varying picks. Ron believes the 'over' is the best bet, while Jeff looks for the pitchers to step up in his 'under' play.
Free MLB Pick: Ron: 'Over' 8.5 // Jeff: 'Under' 8.5

Los Angeles Angels (Shoemaker) vs. Seattle Mariners (Maurer)
Covered by Willie Bee
The Angels couldn't figure out Felix Hernandez last night, but it should be a lot easier against Seattle's Brandon Maurer, who's 1-3 with a dreadful 6.99 ERA on the season. Maurer was tagged for six hits, and six runs in his most recent start. Though Los Angeles will call on Matt Shoemaker, who's actually been pretty solid, Willie has a strong lean on the 'over' with his MLB picks for Thursday night.

Free MLB Pick: Lean 'over' 8

San Francisco Giants (Vogelsong) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (Garcia)
overed by Willie Bee
The Giants just can't seem to stop winning. They've built up a nice 5.5-game lead on the Dodgers atop the NL West, and their 34-19 overall mark is the best in all of baseball. That doesn't mean it's going to be easy against Jaime Garcia and the Cardinals tonight. The MLB odds have St. Louis favored, as they have gone a rock-solid 15-9 at Busch Stadium so far in 2014. Still, Willie isn't going to turn down a chance to back the Giants at a plus price.

Free MLB Pick: Giants +130

Cincinnati Reds (Cingrani) vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (Collmenter)
Covered by Ron Patrick
He's got a lot of talent and promise, but Tony Cingrani's inconsistency has hurt Cincinnati's cause this season. He's 2-4 with a 4.06 ERA and 1.42 WHIP on the year, and we don't expect him to be too dominant against an Arizona team that's swinging the bat well, as of late. Indeed, Ron believes we should back the Diamondbacks as the small chalk at home. Will Josh Collmenter (3-2, 3.91 ERA) step up?

Free MLB Pick: Diamondbacks -115

Pittsburgh Pirates (Cole) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (Haren)
Covered by Ron Patrick
This is a rather strange line. We know Gerrit Cole has been pitching very well, but it's still surprising to see the Pirates (six games under .500) favored on the road against a Dodgers team that will trot out the solid Dan Haren. Haren is 5-3 with a 3.16 ERA so far this season, and Ron is backing the right-hander to lead Los Angeles to the victory.

Free MLB Pick: Dodgers -108

New York Mets (Wheeler) vs. Philadelphia Phillies (Buchanan)
overed by Jeff Grant
Our last stop is in the City of Brotherly Love, where the Phillies will play host to the Mets in a NL East battle tonight. The home team will have David Buchanan, who gave up only five hits and two runs in his MLB debut, on the bump. Philadelphia has struggled at home, going 11-15, while New York has gone an even 11-11 on the road. Zack Wheeler (1-5, 4.63 ERA) has struggled this year, but Jeff has faith he can do enough to carry the Mets to a third straight win.

Free MLB Pick: Mets -105
