It seems strange but both the Braves and Padres are trending OVER at the moment. How are we betting Thursday afternoon's series finale? Find our free mlb selection inside this preview article.
Padres-Braves Thursday Betting Odds
In the early betting the best line we could find on Atlanta (29-30) and Julio Teheran was the +100 offered at WagerWeb, while GT Bets had the best price on San Diego (30-31) and Andrew Cashner, -105.
San Diego took the opener of this four-game series Monday 5-3, but Atlanta won Tuesday 6-5 and Wednesday 4-1. The Padres had been hot, with a 10-5 stretch, until the last two nights, while the Braves had lost five of six. So there's been a quick reversal of fortunes in this series.
Also, San Diego has uncharacteristically played 11 OVERS in its last 14 games, while Atlanta has played eight OVERS in its last 11 games, as both teams have been doing some scoring, and giving some up.
Thursday's Starting Pitchers
Cashner (2-8, 4.05) was on a decent roll through late May, but has been bombed his last two times out, giving up 12 ER through 10 1/3 innings against the N.Y. Mets and Reds. On the season San Diego is just 3-9 in Cashner's starts, although not all of that is his fault.
In his one career outing against Atlanta, which came exactly two years ago today, Cashner held the Braves to two runs through eight innings of a 3-2 Padres victory.
Teheran (4-2, 4.87) got bombed himself three starts ago for eight runs by the Dodgers; he then gave up three runs in six innings against the Giants; and last time out allowed four runs in 7 1/3 innings against Pittsburgh. On the season, thanks to some decent run support, Atlanta is 8-4 in Teheran's starts, with the totals skewing OVER by a 10-2 margin.
In three career starts against San Diego Teheran has allowed 12 runs through 18 2/3 innings. The Braves lost two of those games, with the OVERS going 2-1.
Thursday's Batting Splits
Atlanta ranks fifth in the Majors this season against right-handed pitching with a .327 team OBP, while San Diego ranks 26th against righties with a .296 OBP.

We'll call the pitching match-up a wash, but the Braves own an edge with the sticks. So we like Atlanta.
Also, both teams are trending OVER as of late.
