Our MLB consulting expert shares his two MLB top picks on Thursday’s short schedule. Read his informative betting preview article that covers the games between the Royals/Twins and Marlins.

Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins 1:10 PM ET
The MLB betting odds at Bookmaker have the Royals as a -130 money line favorite in this game on Thursday.

Kansas City had their seven game win streak to start to the season come to an end on Wednesday in a 3-1 loss at Minnesota. The Royals will be facing southpaw starting pitcher Tommy Millone on Thursday. Kansas City has gone a perfect 4-0 this season versus lefty starters, averaging 6.0 runs per game, and had a stellar team batting average of .312. The Royals will go with a southpaw of their own today when Jason Vargas takes the mound. Vargas was terrific in four starts versus Minnesota a season ago, evidenced by a microscopic 0.94 ERA in those outings.

Speaking of Tommy Millone, he’s coming off a fantastic start versus the White Sox in his 2015 debut. However, in two starts versus the Royals in 2014, Millone posted a mammoth 13.49 ERA. Minnesota enters today with a paltry .198 team batting average in 96 at bats versus southpaw starting pitchers in 2015.

MLB Pick: Kansas City -130 on the money line over Minnesota at Bookmaker.

Miami Marlins vs. New York Mets 7:10 PM ET
I’ll be gearing my MLB pick toward the total in this game. According to the MLB betting odds at BetOnline, the posted total is 7.

The Miami Marlins have seen three of their previous four games go over the total. An early concern for Miami has been the performance of their bullpen. Marlins relievers have a collective ERA of 4.76 so far in 2015. Miami is averaging 5.3 runs per game and have a stellar OBP of .358 as a team in their first three road contests of the season.

The New York Mets have seen just one of their previous seven games stay under the total. Dillon Gee will get the start today, and he was shaky in his 2015 debut, allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits in 5.0 innings of work. The Mets are hitting a very good .294 as a team, and averaging 4.7 runs per game in their first three at home.

MLB Pick: Marlins and Mets to go over the total of 7 at BetOnline
