Sports handicapper Ian Cameron provides an MLB Early Lines Report for the baseball card taking place on Monday, September 12. He finds an angle that is worth jumping on before the lines shift.

Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros
We should have runs in bunches in this game between Texas and Houston on Monday night. Two struggling starters on the mound. Martin Perez has been hit hard since the All-Star Break and it has continued here in September as he’s allowed 16 runs on 29 hits in 23.2 innings over his last four starts and the Astros have certainly seen plenty of Perez this season and connected for 5 runs on 8 hits the last time they faced him.

Houston should have some chance to score runs but so should Texas against Doug Fister who has shown signs of arm fatigue down the stretch of the season. Fister didn’t pitch a full season as a starter last season and the innings he has logged this year appear to be wearing him down in recent outings as Fister has been pounded for 18 runs on 26 hits in his last 12.1 innings of work. The Astors opened up as -1.5 (+155) favorites in the MLB odds board.

Texas enters this game on a 9-1 Over the total surge in their last 10 games largely due to the combination of their starters not pitching deep into games lately (including Perez), their bullpen being worked heavily and not quite as effective and their lineup being red hot at the plate. That is a formula that I expect to result in another high scoring game involving Texas on Monday night worthy of a wager Over the total, as my MLB pick.
