Despite about a dozen guys on the disabled list Texas is climbing up the MLB money chart, with 14 wins in its last 18 games. The Rangers will try to stay hot when they open a three-game series in Oakland Tuesday night.

Rangers-A's Tuesday Betting Odds
As of early Tuesday AM the best line we could find on Oakland with Sonny Gray was the -180 offered at YouWager, while 5Dimes was giving Texas and Nick Martinez +174. And every book we checked was listing the total on tonight's game at seven runs.

The Situation
Texas just took two of three games from Kansas City over the weekend, and has now won six straight series and 14 of its last 18 games.

Oakland, meanwhile, just got swept three games in Boston over the weekend, blowing a late 4-0 lead Sunday, losing 7-4. But just prior to that the A's had won two series in a row, against the Tigers and Yankees.

Big-picture, at 30-27 Texas has pulled to within three games of first-place Houston in the AL West, while Oakland, at 23-36, sits in last place, 11 games behind the Astros.

The A's lead the season series with the Rangers four games to three, with the totals leaning OVER by a 5-1-1 margin.

Tuesday's Starting Pitchers
Gray (7-2, 1.65) is nine-for-12 on quality starts this season, and runnin' hot at the moment. Last Wednesday he tossed eight innings of two-hit, shutout ball at Detroit, and over his last three starts, covering 21 innings, he's allowed just two runs and 10 hits. For the season Gray has allowed just 54 hits through 82 innings, with 21 walks and 73 strikeouts. Oakland is 7-5 in Gray's starts, with the totals leaning OVER by an 8-2 margin, thanks largely to some nice run support.

Gray has already started eight times against Texas in his short ML career, including two winning efforts already this season. Over those eight outings he's allowed just 10 ER through 58 1/3 innings; the A's are 6-2 in those starts, with the UNDERS going 5-2-1.

Martinez (4-2, 2.89) is seven-for-11 on quality starts this year, but coming off his worst outing so far, after giving up seven runs in less than four innings of a 9-2 loss to the White Sox last Wednesday. But just prior to that Martinez had allowed just five runs through his previous three starts, covering 19 innings. On the season Martinez has given up 68 hits through 65 1/3 innings; Texas is 8-3 in Martinez' starts, with the totals skewing OVER by an 8-3 margin, mostly thanks to some pretty good run support.

In five career starts against Oakland, including a pair of quality outings already this season, Martinez has given up eight ER through 29 1/3 innings; the Rangers are 4-1 in those games, and with help from good run support four of those games played OVER.

Tuesday's Batting Splits
Oakland ranks seventh in the Majors this season against right-handed pitching with a .324 team OBP, while Texas ranks 13th against righties with a .318 OBP.

Rangers-A's Betting Trends
Games played at the O.co Coliseum this season are a lopsided 19-7 on the OVERS, averaging, somewhat surprisingly, 8.5 runs per.

Injury Update
Texas is playing without two key sticks in Adrian Beltre and Josh Hamilton, as they do some time on the DL.

Rangers-A's Best Betting Value
It's not easy going against Gray, but we believe the betting value on tonight's contest resides with the underdog Rangers. Also, these two bullpens both rank in the bottom five in the Majors in ERA, so we're thinking OVER.

MLB Picks: Texas +174 at 5Dimes and OVER seven runs (-105) at WagerWeb
