Our MLB betting expert has cashed in with 5 of his last 6 underdog picks. Go inside to find out what 2 underdogs he likes on Sunday, and precisely why that’s the case.

Rays (Andriese) vs Yankees (Cessa) 1:05 PM ET
The Rays have lost the first three games of this four-game set against their AL East rival. They’ve now dropped 6 of their last 7 games overall and are a dismal 24-42 (.364) on the road. The Rays pitching has really struggled over the past 11 games, during that period of time, they’ve allowed a lofty 6.3 runs per contest.

Speaking of struggling pitching, it will be Matt Andriese on the mound today for Tampa Bay. Through the course of his last 6 starts, Andriese has collected a mammoth 9.30 ERA. The Rays right-hander has made 2 career starts versus New York, including one in each of the past 2 seasons, and had a horrible 10.80 ERA in those outings.

How about the Yankees? They’re currently riding a 7-game winning streak and are just 1.0 game behind in the American League wild-card chase. “The Bronx Bombers” are a stellar 43-28 (.606) at home, and that includes 7-2 versus Tampa Bay at Yankee Stadium.

Luis Cessa will make his fifth career MLB start on Sunday for New York. The Yankees have won each of his previous four, and Cessa’s 3.09 ERA in addition to a 1.07 WHIP have been major contributors to that success.

One of my Sunday MLB predictions is for the Yankees to win by a decisive margin. Having said that, I’m going to opt for a run line wager. When filtering through what I consider to be the best sportsbooks, Heritage provides me with a most favorable price to make this specific wager.

Reds (Finnegan) vs Pirates (Vogelsong) 1:35 PM ET
The pick in this game is simply based on one starting pitcher exhibiting very good form in recent starts, and the other being on an opposite side of that spectrum.

The Reds Brandon Finnegan has been superb over his preceding 4 starts. That’s been evidenced by his sparkling 2.16 ERA and 0.80 WHIP throughout that time frame.

Pittsburgh veteran right-hander Ryan Vogelsong has labored during his last 3 starts. It’s further proven by Vogelsong’s hefty 7.54 ERA and 1.68 through the course of that trio of outings.

In addition to Cincinnati having a starting pitching edge today, Pittsburgh is an awful 2-10 over its last 12 games. I see the road underdog being a clear betting value, and one of my Sunday MLB picks will be indicative of that assessment. Current MLB betting odds at 5Dimes allows me the optimum price for this wager.
