Today on the plus money line the value is with the San Diego Padres and Andrew Cashner. I am backing them as my MLB pick to continue their winning streak against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Padres are a good team, but it makes sense for them to be the underdog in this spot. They are facing a good pitcher on the road. But value is value and MLB odds board show some Sports Book offer the Padres at +107. For me that is a good number with arguably their best pitcher on the mound.

Cashner vs. Lorenzen
Michael Lorenzen takes the mound for the Reds. The 23 year old comes in with a 3.06 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. Very good numbers for a young pitcher, but he has not had a lot of major league experience and at home his ERA is just below 4.00.  Cashner for the Padres has had a lot of tough luck this season as far as wins and losses. He comes in with a 3.46 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. He has a horrible last outing against the Mets giving up five earned in just four innings. But he is a good bounce back pitcher, last year he only gave up four or more in three starts, one of them the last game for him on the year.  The other two he gave up four and bounced back giving just two and one earned runs his next outing.

Improve MLB Picks by Using OPS Index & Buy/Sell Ratings

Both teams are pretty pedestrian on the offensive end. The Padres rank higher than the Reds in runs and hits per game, the Reds rank higher in on base and slugging %.

This is a value MLB pick on who I think is one the best pitchers in the league in Cashner. The team should be out to improve his win loss total and back him up as he goes just for his third win of the season. The Padres are 7-3 in their last ten games, the Reds 5-5, back the value on the hotter team in the Padres.
