San Diego continued its recent winnings ways with a 4-3 victory to lead off this series Monday night, but couldn't give us a winner with our free MLB pick on the run line. We hope to do better with our free pick on Tuesday's Game 2 (10:10 pm ET).

Tuesday's Betting Odds
As of early Tuesday morning the best line we could find on San Diego and rookie righty Odrisamer Despaigne was the -145 offered at Pinnacle, while Colorado and rookie lefty Yohan Flande could be found at +140 at BetOnline. And most books were listing the total on Tuesday's game at seven runs.

The Padres could also be gotten at around +155 giving the run and a half on the run line.

Monday Re-Hash
San Diego and starter Jesse Hahn took a 1-0 lead into the sixth inning Monday night, but Corey Dickerson hit a three-run homer to give the Rockies a 3-1 lead. The Padres then scored once in the sixth, and took the lead for good on Yangervis Solarte's two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh. The San Diego bullpen then closed out a 4-3 victory.

The Padres won as -165 favorites on Monday's MLB betting line, and the game played 'over' its total of 6.5 runs.

Tuesday's Twirlers
Despaigne (2-3, 3.10) is 5/8 on quality starts since joining the Padres rotation back in June, but 0 for his last three. Last time out he gave up four runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings against Minnesota, and over his last three starts he's given up 12 ER in 15 innings.

On the season Despaigne has allowed 43 hits in 49 innings, walked 20 and struck out 28. San Diego is 4-4 in games Despaigne has started, with the totals splitting 4-4.

Flande (0-4, 5.77) is just 1/6 on quality starts since joining the Rockies rotation back in June, but he's been a little better as of late. Last time out he gave up four runs in six innings against the Cubs, but over his last three appearances he's allowed six runs through 14 1/3 innings.

For the season Flande has allowed 37 hits in 34 innings, walked nine and struck out 18. But Colorado is a perfect 0-6 in games Flande has stared, with the totals splitting 3-3.

Neither of these two pitchers has ever started against Tuesday night's opponents.

Free Pick for Tuesday
San Diego is still the hotter team, so we're leaning that way. And in hoping Despaigne can find a little of his earlier form we'll go with the Padres on the run line, getting +155 at Heritage, for today's free MLB pick
