Pittsburgh Pirates vs San Francisco Giants
The Pittsburgh Pirates are in good form right now and certainly better form than the San Francisco Giants and you can argue Matt Cain shouldn’t be favored against any quality teams these days once again providing betting value with Pittsburgh in this game. Ivan Nova isn’t a pitcher the betting markets will run to the window to bet but he has been quietly getting the job done most of the season. Pittsburgh has won each of his first two starts since he was dealt to the Pirates prior to the trade deadline. He has dominated San Francisco allowing a single run in 16 career innings against them and I expect him to pitch well here.

On the flip side, we cashed a ticket against Matt Cain in his last start a 5-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles and I don’t trust him to pitch effectively here against a surging Pirates lineup that has been hitting the baseball well for the last week or so. Cain doesn’t eat innings routinely failing to pitch more than 5 innings which brings a beleaguered San Francisco bullpen into play and that group has struggled quite a bit in recent weeks. Add it all up and this underdog price on Pittsburgh is worthy of a wager, and my MLB pick for this game.

Boston Red Sox vs Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles are a very rare home underdog as they face the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night. David Price is a difficult pitcher to gauge as he’s exchanged good and rotten outings for much of the season but he’s definitely been susceptible on the road entering this game with a 4.34 ERA on the road where Boston has a 5-7 record in Price’s 12 road starts and the Red Sox are just 1-5 in his last 6 starts overall. Price also has a suspect track record against Baltimore allowing 8 runs on 10 hits in 13 innings against them in two starts earlier this season with Boston losing both games.

Chris Tillman gets the nod for Baltimore in this game and he continues to be a model of consistency for the Orioles in their starting rotation allowing 3 runs or less in 7 of his last 8 starts. Baltimore has a tremendous 12-1 record in Tillman’s 13 home starts at Camden Yards this season and a 6-2 record in his last 8 starts overall. Tillman has yielded 3 runs or less in 7 of his last 8 career starts against Boston and the Orioles have a terrific 8-1 record in the last 9 starts made by Chris Tillman against the Red Sox. That is damning evidence to prove to me that Boston doesn’t warrant a road favorite designation in this game's MLB Odds against a Baltimore team that has a sparkling 39-17 record at home this season. Wrong team favored!
