Each and every Sunday Swinger looks to bust your bookmaker with his MLB picks so get ready to end your week on a winning note as he reveals his winning selection for Sunday, August 3rd

Swinger's 2014 MLB Record (20-17-1, +8.45 units)  *Picks are rated from 1 to 5 units*
Last Sunday we locked in like a laser on the Mets +125 in MLB odds to defeat the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers on their home turf.  We had a feeling the decent number on the Mets would fall fast and sure enough the wise guys jumped all over New York until the Brewers ultimately closed at about -125 in MLB odds. All those Johnny-come-latelies wound up with a ticket on the Mets that was not much better than even money.

Nevertheless, if you bet the Mets last week as I suggested as my only pick on the board, you picked yourself a winner and for those keeping track I added 5 units to my bankroll. We are now on the precipice of cracking into double digits for the season. For those new to this column, it was an early season of bad beats and despair that had us climbing out of a deeply dug hole until where we are now. We are +8.45 units on the season and our Sunday MLB picks have been cashing like a mofo so since the middle of June. Let's keep the train rolling boys as we take the plunge once again for Sunday, August 3rd.

Giants vs. Mets
The Giants have Madison Bumgarner taking the hill today as he is hoping to rebound from a thumping he took at the hands of the Pirates on Monday, allowing five runs in four innings of a 5-0 loss in San Francisco. However, when Bumgarner takes to the highway, he has been a stone cold killer. The Giants southpaw is 8-2 with a 1.75 ERA in 12 road starts this season. He also likes Citi Field as he is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in three starts when pitching on the Mets home diamond.

Bartolo Colon has been more than solid at home compiling a 5-4 record with a 2.52 ERA. However, many will look favorably at Colon's last start when he got the victory over Philadelphia on Monday evening but I see a guy who scattered 10 hits yet allowed only one earned run.  That has the makings of a lucky, as opposed to a dominant, evening.

Here's the bottom line. Bum versus Colon, some may say this game stinks - I say you can make a damn good living being a plumber. The only reason Bumgarner isn't more of a road favorite is because the squares are afraid of what they saw happen Monday night at home. I'll take Bumgarner even days a week and twice on Sunday against a 41-year-old fat guy who tends to wilt down the stretch.

MLB Picks: San Francisco -115 for 3 units at Bet365.com.

Phillies vs. Nationals
Though the Washington Nationals are poised for the postseason and top the NL East while Philadelphia resides in the basement of said division, the Phillies have won six of their last 10 while the Nats have dropped six of their last 10. In addition, Cole Hamels has been unconscious lately earning four wins in five starts (the other being a no decision) and surrendering only six earned runs over that stretch while averaging seven plus innings per contest.

Forget about the fact that Strasburg pitched well in a loss against the Marlins last time out, Hamels is on a mission and if you think there's that much talent separating Washington from Philly, think again. Philadelphia is coming around though it may be too little too late. However today they'll do just fine and we're getting all that luscious juice in the process.

MLB Picks: Philadelphia +140 for 4 units at Bet365.com

Blue Jays vs. Astros (MAX PLAY - DOUBLE PLAY)
I'm gonna give you the down and dirty here. The Astros don't win many games but they won one last night when they spanked the Jays 8-2.  They have now won three of four - that's enough for them. The Blue Jays have a much better pitcher in Marcus Stroman who has been white hot recently and their offense will overwhelm the erratic Scott Feldman. Blue Jays in a cakewalk.

MLB Picks: Toronto -170 for 5 units at Bet365.com

MLB Picks: Toronto - 1 ½ (-105) runs for 4 units.
