Two of the best teams in the American League carry betting value on Sunday. Read on to find out why, as we offer our top MLB picks of the day to help you end the week on a high note.

Indians vs. Tigers

The Indians have won two in a row as of this writing to extend their lead over the Twins in the American League Central to two games. The Tigers on the other hand are seven games behind the Indians despite winning three of their last four games.

Mike Clevinger will start for the Indians and he's been on fire, giving up two earned runs or less in his last three starts, lowering his ERA from 4.09 to 3.56. Clevinger dominated the Rangers on Monday, allowing one earned run on two hits (one home run) and two walks with nine strikeouts in six innings to get a no-decision in a 1-2 loss. The right-hander is 3-1 with a decent 2.81 ERA in five road starts and this will be his first start against the Tigers this season.
The Tigers will turn to Justin Verlander, who allowed three earned runs on nine hits and a walk with six strikeouts over seven innings in a 5-3 win over the Royals last Tuesday. Verlander has nine quality starts this season and he's 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA in seven home starts. Look for a low-scoring game here as Clevinger and Verlander continue to pitch well. Take Under 9.5 at -105 MLB odds.

Yankees vs. Astros

At the moment of this writing, the Yankees have won two of their last three games and they're just one game behind the Red Sox in the American League East. The Astros have also won two of their last three and they lead the Angels in the American League West by 13.5 games.

Luis Severino will take the hill for the Yankees after allowing one earned run on six hits and zero walks with 12 strikeouts in seven innings of 4-3 loss against the White Sox last Tuesday. Severino didn't factor into the decision and he hasn't won any of his last three starts but he's 2-0 with a decent 2.50 ERA in eight road starts.

The Astros will give the ball to Mike Fiers, who lost his last start against the Athletics on Tuesday, when he gave up four earned runs on four hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings of a 6-4 setback.

Fiers allowed four earned runs on four hits (two home runs) over 5 2/3 innings to get a no-decision in an 11-6 loss against the Yankees on May 14 and he's just 1-3 with a 3.16 ERA in seven home starts. Look for the Yankees to thrive against Fiers and add them to your MLB picks
