Each and every Sunday Swinger looks to bust your bookmaker with his MLB picks so get ready to end your week on a winning note as he reveals his winning selection for Sunday, September 21st.

Swinger's 2014 MLB Record (30-30-1, -10.45 units)  *Picks are rated from 1 to 5 units*
Shoulda-woulda-coulda.  That's the perfect day we should have had last Sunday in our MLB picks but alas, it was not to be as my five unit maximum play on the Nationals -165 in MLB odds and -1 ½ (+105) on the run line for another five unit max play did the splits in the ninth freakin' inning when the Marlins got home their only run but ultimately came up short in Washington's 2-1 road win.  So we win 5 units on the MLB money line but lose by a heartbreaking half run on the run line.  No harm, no foul but no money.

However, we did get well with a big underdog in MLB odds when the Rangers +185 for two units edged the Angels 2-1 and brought us home +3.70 units for the day.  Let's see if we can inch closer to prosperity on the last day of the regular season and then into the playoffs we go!

Marlins vs. Nationals (MAX PLAY)
In an MLB pick reminiscent of Yogi Berra's famous line, it's like déjà vu all over again, we are going back to the same semi-toxic well when we advise a play on the Nationals on both the money line and run line in MLB odds last Sunday only this time we'll stick only to the money line as the Marlins have a very good pitcher on the hill as well.

Okay so we have a pair of top echelon hurlers in both Jordan Zimmermann and Henderson Alvarez so why, oh why, would we make the Nats a full blown max unit play?  I mean they have already captured the best record in the National League which gives them home field advantage no matter who they play until the World Series if they get there.  It's because this game is all about momentum headed into the postseason and Zimmermann keeping his mojo rolling along  and the good juju that he brings whenever he takes the bump.  The Nats have not lost with Zimmermann on the hill since July 28th.

In addition, Zimmermann has had three extra days to rest after getting hit on the shoulder by a line drive and should be good and nasty on the hill today.  Washington is also 19-7 against the Marlins when playing in Washington over the last three seasons.  His counterpart, Henderson ALvarez has pitched well for the Marlins as well and is no pushover to be sure but we anticipate that the better team with the better pitcher wins this one today.

Rockies vs. Dodgers
Now that the Dodgers have a lock on the NL West Don Mattingly has decided to turn the reins over to third baseman Juan Uribe for a day and let him manage the last game of the regular season.  Sounds like things are being taken a bit too lightly as Clayton Kershaw is now the pitching coach for a day only and will advise today's starter Zack Greinke.

Now I understand the Rockies are a bad team and even worse on the road as they will become the 22nd team in MLB history to lose 60 road games in a season if they lose today.  But while my daddy told me that nobody ever made good money betting on bad teams, I will throw caution to the wind and look for Greinke to be severely limited on a pitch count and the Dodgers clubhouse being a bit too casual today with Uribe standing in for Mattingly and Kershaw assuming the role of pitching coach.  Let's hope the Rockies have a bit of pride still remaining and their pitcher of record today, Christian Bergman ending his rookie season with back to back wins.

Free MLB Pick: Play Colorado +195 in MLB odds for 2 units at
