We split a pair of MLB Picks, but thanks to generous +105 odds on Bryce Harper on Friday night, we made a very modest profit on the night. Let’s try to parlay that into some wins on Sunday Night Baseball, in one of the oldest rivalries in North American Sports.

Yankees vs. Red Sox O/U 4 ½ runs in first 5 innings

With a day game doubleheader for this series, coming after a 16-inning marathon on Saturday night the sportsbooks are hesitant to release too many player props for Sunday night right now. However, Bovada still has some team props available and this one seems like a big value right now.

There are going to be no arms left by the time we get to Sunday Night Baseball. That much is known. That means both managers will be looking to get at least five or six innings from their night game starters, because it’s going to be tough to rely on their pens depending on how the early game ends up.

At the time of writing this, Game 1 has just started and there is no score yet. However, even if they don’t need a lot of arms in the early one, the both used a ton of arms on Saturday. Both teams are coming in with a shortage in the pen regardless.

However, David Price and Masahiro Tanaka don’t really give you a ton of confidence, because if they have longer leashes on Sunday Night Baseball, that may just mean more runs given up early in the first five innings.

With a five-inning total of just 4 ½ from Bovada, that may be giving money away. Especially if this early game continues its trajectory of being low scoring, that just means the law of averages will come back strong for the national TV game.

At a price of -125 in the MLB Odds, the over looks like my one and only play for Sunday Night Baseball.
