Our resident MLB consultant previews today’s AL Central showdown between the Indians and White Sox. Will these teams continue their low scoring games when facing each other so far in 2015? Will one of these teams have the advantage over the other in this series finale?
Series Finale on Thursday between AL Central Rivals
The Chicago White Sox will host the Cleveland Indians on Thursday at 8:10 PM ET. According to the MLB odds at Wagerweb, Cleveland is a -130 money line favorite, and the posted total is 8.5. Today will be the finale of a four game series between these AL Central rivals. These teams will be meeting for the ninth time already in 2015, and they’ve split the first eight encounters. It’s certainly worth noting that each of those eight games have gone under the total.
The Indians Danny Salazar will take the mound tonight, and he’s been victimized by the long ball in his first six starts of the season. He’s allowed 7 home runs in 37 2/3 innings pitched. Salazar has posted a lofty 5.11 ERA and gone over the total in all four starts at night. The Indians right-handed hurler has gone 3-1 over the total with an unimpressive 5.09 ERA in four career starts versus the White Sox, and all four of those outings have taken place since 2013.
The White Sox will turn to veteran southpaw John Danks to make the start this evening. After getting off to a very shaky start to the season, Danks has exhibited some encouraging signs during his previous two starts. As a matter of fact, he’s gone a stellar 3-0 in his team starts at home in 2015, and posted a stellar 3.32 ERA.
Pertinent Team Trends
- The Indians have gone 3-12 this season following a win in their previous game.
- The Indians are 9-17 in 2015 versus AL Central opponents.
- The White Sox are 12-5-1 under the total this season at home, and that includes 6-0 under versus Cleveland at Comiskey Park in Chicago.
- The White Sox left-handed starting pitcher John Danks is 5-1-1 under the total in 2015.
- The Indians are 6-10 this season when facing a left-handed starting pitcher, and are hitting just .234 as a team in that role.
MLB Money Line Betting System
The Indians Danny Salazar has posted a 4.06 ERA in six starts this season. The White Sox are coming off losses of 3-1 on Tuesday and 4-3 on Wednesday. Chicago has averaged just 3.7 runs per game this season. The combination of all this data sets up a successful money line betting system, and that will be weighed in heavily when making one of my MLB picks on Thursday.
Any home team (White Sox) that’s +125 to -125 on the money line, coming off two straight losses by two runs or less, and averages 4.2 or less runs per game, versus an American League starting pitcher with an ERA of 4.20 or less, resulted in the home team going 37-16 (69.8%) since 1997.
MLB Pick: White Sox +120 on the money line at Wagerweb.
