Our sports betting consultant has absolutely dominated with his “MLB Totals of the Day” daily articles. Today he’ll examine totals in games between the Cubs/Mets and White Sox/Cardinals.

Cubs (Lester) vs. Mets (Colon) 7:10 PM ET
Despite their 1-0 win last night, the Cubs continue to struggle offensively. They’ve scored 2 runs or less in each of their last seven, and averaging an anemic 1.1 runs per game while possessing a horrible .222 team batting average during that time. The Cubs are 8-1-1 under the total in their last ten games. On a positive note, opponents have a paltry .204 team batting average versus Cubs pitching during their previous seven games. John Lester will be on the hill tonight, and he’s displayed good form over his last three starts, posting a solid 3.12 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.

The Mets offensive production of late has been absolutely futile. They’ve scored 2 runs or less in 7 of the last 8, and 10 of their previous 12 games. They’ve gone 7-1 under the total in the last 8, and 12-2 under during their previous 14 games. The Mets are hitting a pathetic .177 as a team during their last seven games, and had 4 hits or less in five of the last eight. Bartolo Colon has struggled in recent starts and this looks like an opportune spot for him to stem the tide.

If you haven’t figured it out already, I very much like this game to be a low scoring affair for one of my MLB picks today. Youwager and Pinnacle provide us with the best price on this total.

MLB Pick- Cubs and Mets under 7.0 (-110).

Must Read: Most important pitching stats for Over/Under bettors

White Sox (Quintana) vs. Cardinals (Lackey) 8:15 PM ET
Southpaw Jose Quintana has displayed very good form during his last six starts by posting a stellar 2.97 ERA. The White Sox have gone 42-30 under the total this season, averaging just 3.5 runs per game, and possessing only a .241 team batting average. They’ve also shown very little power, evidenced by their low number of 55 home runs hit in 77 games. That’s not good news considering they’ll be facing John Lackey tonight who’s surrendered only 1 home run in 56 2/3 innings pitched at home in 2015.

The Cardinals have gone 25-11 under the total at home this season, including 7-1 under the last 8, and 13-2 under in their previous fifteen games at Busch Stadium. John Lackey has been lights out at home this year, going 7-1 under the total with an excellent 1.91 ERA, and a 4:1 strikeout to walk ratio. The Cardinals bullpen has been off the charts with a 1.72 ERA at home. Similar to the White Sox, St. Louis has lacked power this season, accounting for just 62 home runs, and only 24 of those have come in 37 home games.

This has all the ear marks of a low scoring game. At the time of this writing, 5Dimes has the optimum combination of number and price regarding a wager on going under the number.

MLB Pick- White Sox and Cardinals under 7.0 (-120) at 5Dimes.
