Top Strikeout Props for MLB's Thursday Slate: No Help for Struggling Halos

A number of strikeout artists are on the mound Thursday and we're targeting a trio of pitchers and their strikeout props for our MLB betting card.

Multiple All-Star pitchers are in action Thursday, including Nestor Cortes and Corbin Burnes. However, we have our eye on a trio of lefties and a number of strikeout props with surprising lines and odds.

Valdez Over 6.5 strikeouts (+114 via BetRivers)

We’re fading the Los Angeles Angels, who have lost nine of their last 11 games. And when it comes to strikeouts, the Angels lead the league with 870 Ks, an average of 9.77 whiffs per game.

I'm surprised to see such a low number on Framber Valdez's strikeout Over/Under. The Houston Astros' lefty faced the Angels 11 days ago and struck out 13 in just six innings of work in a 4-2 Astros victory.

Angels batters struck out 17 times on Wednesday, 12 times Tuesday, and on 10 occasions Monday.

Perez Over 4.5 strikeouts (-115 via DraftKings)

Martin Perez may not be regarded as a strikeout artist, he ranks 45th in the league with 86 Ks, but his prop line is still too low.

The Texas Rangers All-Star has averaged 5.2 strikeouts per game across his last five outings and sat down seven Seattle Mariners batters in six innings of work on June 5. The Rangers have won 12 of his last 13 starts.

The Mariners have the 11th most strikeouts in the league with 761 Ks on the season. Bank on Perez to get to five strikeouts.

Rodon Over 7.5 strikeouts (-146 via FanDuel)

Arguably the best pitching matchup of the day features Carlos Rodon and the San Francisco Giants opposite Burnes and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Rodon ranks sixth in the league with 124 Ks and is coming off a 12-strikeout performance in a complete-game victory over the San Diego Padres on Saturday.

The Brewers lineup Rodon will be facing Thursday ranks as the fifth worst in the league with 782 strikeouts. The All-Star pitcher is averaging eight strikeouts per home start.
