The Diamondbacks and Rockies play a rubber match Thursday afternoon in Denver. The first two games of this series have played OVER, and this handicapper forsees another OVER for today's MLB pick.

Diamondbacks-Rockies Thursday Betting Odds
As of early Thursday morning the price we could find on Colorado and lefty Jorge De La Rosa was the -125 offered at 5Dimes, while Arizona and Rubby De La Rosa were getting +121 at Heritage.

The Situation
These teams have split the first two games of this series, Colorado winning Tuesday 10-5, Arizona rallying to win Wednesday 8-7. Both those games, obviously, played OVER their totals.

The Diamondbacks (35-36) now lead the season series over the Rockies (31-40) five games to two, with the OVERS going 6-1.

On the injury front Colorado OF Carlos Gonzalez has missed recent action with a sore hand, and is questionable for today.

De La Rosa, Squared
In what must be a first in MLB history two De La Rosas square off, as Colorado's Jorge goes against Arizona's Rubby.

Jorge (4-3, 5.47) had been going OK earlier this month, allowing six runs in 20 innings against the Dodgers, Cardinals and Marlins, but last time out he got plugged for six runs in five innings against a mediocre Milwaukee lineup. On the season Jorge has allowed 53 hits in 53 innings, with 53 strikeouts; the Rockies are 5-5 in Jorge's starts, with the totals splitting 5-5.

Jorge and the D'Backs are fairly familiar; last year he started four times against the Snakes, giving up 14 ER through 23 1/3 innings; Colorado only won one of those games, and three of those games played OVER.

Rubby (6-3, 4.96) got bombed a couple of times earlier this month, but may have found something recently, holding the Giants and Padres to one ER through 15 innings his last two times out. On the season Rubby has allowed 89 hits through 89 innings, and his K/BB ratio ain't bad, at 83/24; but the 14 home runs haven't helped. Still, Arizona is 9-5 in Rubby's starts, while the totals have leaned OVER 8-5.

Rubby last started against Colorado back in 2011, when he was with the Dodgers.

D'Backs-Rockies Thursday Free Picks
We'll give Rubby a short edge in the pitching match-up, and Arizona is just a little better team at the moment. We'll take the Snakes for today. Also, both teams are trending OVER as of late, as are games in this series.

MLB Picks: Arizona +121 and OVER 10.5 runs (+100) at Heritage
