There are five games that we're putting a close eye on with our MLB daily odds report for Monday. Let's start off the week right by beating the books, as our cappers hand out their top value plays of the day.

Los Angeles Dodgers (Correia) vs. Atlanta Braves (Teheran)
Covered by Jeff Grant
Kevin Correia was recently traded to the Dodgers and he'll make his debut tonight in Atlanta. The right-hander has struggled this season, but maybe a switch to the National League will help him turn things around. Julio Teheran, who's 10-8 with a 2.92 ERA, starts for the Braves.

This is a big series for Atlanta, as they're falling behind Washington in the division race, with a poor 2-8 run over their last 10 games certainly not helping their cause. Despite their recent struggles, Jeff believes Teheran and the Braves will get it done in the opener.

MLB Pick: Braves -160

New York Yankees (Capuano) vs. Baltimore Orioles (Norris)
Covered by Jeff Grant and Willie Bee
A crucial series between Baltimore and New York begins on Monday, with Bud Norris and the Orioles checking in as the MLB betting favorites at home to start things off. Norris has gone 9-7 with a 3.68 ERA so far this season and has plenty of experience pitching against the Yankees over the years.

As for New York, they'll put the ball in the glove of Chris Capuano, who's actually been solid since recently joining up with the team. As far as our recommended MLB picks go, Jeff is taking Baltimore to win straight up, while Willie believes there's more value in selecting the 'under.'

MLB Pick: Jeff: Orioles -130 // Willie: 'Under' 8.5

Detroit Tigers (Verlander) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (Locke)
Covered by Ross Benjamin
Justin Verlander has been pitching as well as he has all season long, but we'll have to see if he can keep it going in Pittsburgh against a Pirates team that's been fantastic (37-24) at home throughout the 2014 season.

We'll have left-hander Jeff Locke (3-3, 3.78 ERA) on the mound for the home team, and Ross believes the two starters will rise to the occasion and help keep the game's total score relatively low. He's adding the 'under' to his MLB picks.

MLB Pick: Under 7.5

Oakland Athletics (Gray) vs. Kansas City Royals (Ventura)
Covered by Doug Upstone
There's no hotter team in baseball right now than the Royals, who have reeled off seven straight wins to pull within a half-game of the Tigers for first place in the AL Central. Now the impetus falls on Yordano Ventura (9-8, 3.47 ERA) to guide Kansas City to another win, this time at home against Oakland.

The Athletics will counter with Sonny Gray, who's excelled to the tune of a 12-5 record and 2.87 ERA. And, though the Royals are on fire right now, Doug is forecasting a victory for the road team, with Oakland hoping to improve on their excellent 32-24 away record this season.

MLB Pick: Athletics -110

Colorado Rockies (Lyles) vs. San Diego Padres (Hahn)
Covered by Ron Patrick
Our last stop comes in San Diego, where Jesse Hahn and the Padres will play host to Jordan Lyles and the Rockies. The MLB odds have the home team favored at right around -150 on the money-line, with Colorado available for action at roughly +140.

San Diego has been playing well lately, winning two straight and seven of their last 10, and with the way Hahn (7-3, 2.28 ERA) has performed this season, we don't blame Ron for taking a chance on the Padres to win by two or more runs tonight.

MLB Pick: Padres -1.5 (+161)
