While yesterday was about the heroics of Derek Jeter and my stellar MLB picks going 2-0, tonight begins the final chapter of the MLB Regular Season. Time to provide you with the best free MLB betting picks of the day.

Capper Catalano’s Record: 212-184 -15.52 Units
I did the smart thing in yesterday's MLB picks report, and took two teams that had something to play for and had an edge in my opinion. Off of the bats of Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez, we prevailed with Detroit while laying major juice and I also took the Kansas City Royals, who had everything to play for, with pitcher James “Big Game” Shields. My only regret was making these 1-unit plays due to the unfair odds.

Minnesota Twins (68-91) vs. Detroit Tigers (89-70)

AL Central Up For Grabs
With 3 games remaining in the regular season, this division is still up for grabs and the Kansas City Royals have to feel much better about their situation where the AL Wild Card is concerned as Oakland is collapsing.

Now, the Royals are starting to look at the division title and Detroit needs to keep winning. The MLB odds are still high, but with Rick Porcello taking the mound, the odds have dipped just a bit for some chalk-riders. I know that -209 still seems like a lot, but we have to remember that the Tigers have a lot of incentive to win this game and have a far superior club than that of the Twinkies.

A Sure Thing?
I’m not worried about the Tigers offense at all. They proved yesterday that one or both of their big hitters will provide the punch when needed. I’m worried about Rick Porcello (15-12, 3.31). The ERA looks good, but Porcello is coming off of a poor performance against Kansas City in which he allowed 4 runs and 9 hits in 3 1/3 innings in a 5-2 loss. Porcello has dropped his last 4 decisions and 7 out of his last 9 decisions. I’m counting on the Detroit offense with Victor Martinez to take over this game.

It’s unknown whether Mike Trout or Victor Martinez will win the AL MVP Award, but Martinez has been the best player in the American League; hands down.

On the season, Martinez is hitting .337 with 32 HR and 102 RBI. He’s also hitting .395 with 5 HR and 13 RBI in the month of September. Look for VMart and Miggy to bring the division title back to Motown.

Oakland Athletics (86-73) vs. Texas Rangers (66-93)

A Collapse of Epic Proportion
The Oakland Athletics have been gradually falling apart. First, they had the best record in the majors for a long time and until they got beaten up by the Los Angeles Angels. Second, they were in control of the American League Wild Card as their consolation prize to being one of the worst teams in baseball over the last month to month and a half. Now, they’re holding on to the 2nd wild card spot in the American League with Seattle 2 games behind with 3 games left in the season and Cleveland a remote 3 games behind.

The bottom line is that Oakland should be able to crawl into the wild card and could win the wild card because it’s a one game elimination process, but they’re going nowhere. Luckily for them, Texas is on their schedule and even the Athletics can’t screw this up.

Scott Kazmir
In the beginning of the season, Scott Kazmir was one of the best pitchers in the major leagues. Now, he’s very hittable, allowing 10 earned runs and 20 hits in his last 9 2/3 innings. Kazmir has dropped his last 4 decisions and 6 out of his last 8 decisions. Texas is coming off of a 2-1 victory over Oakland yesterday and I’m looking for every reason to take Oakland over a team with no legitimate stars other than Adrian Beltre.

Beltre continues to tear the cover off of the ball. He was 2 for 4 yesterday with a home run in the victory and is 10 for his last 25 with 1 HR and 5 RBI. Oakland hasn’t shown me anything, losing 7 out of their last 10 games. I’m picking the Rangers as a major underdog at home as one of my valubale MLB picks.
