Miami Marlins vs. San Diego Padres
We should have some runs scored in this early start afternoon matchup between the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

Justin Nicolino has not been overly reliable and the Marlins lefty has been suspect on the road this season coming into this game with a 4.63 ERA in 4 road starts and this could be a troublesome matchup for him against a Padres team that has hit lefties hard all season long ranking 5th in the Majors in OPS at .763 against southpaws.

On the flip side, Luis Perdomo is nothing more than a spot starter and will be on the mound here for San Diego only because they are dealing with multiple starters on the DL currently for the Padres. Perdomo has been hammered in two starts this season allowing 8 runs on 12 hits in 6.1 innings of work against Milwaukee and Colorado.

He can’t be trusted to pitch deep nor can the very mediocre San Diego bullpen be counted on to shut the door and handle a likely increased workload. I think 8.5 in a day game at Petco Park where the baseball should be flying a bit more than it does at night is worthy of an Over MLB Picks.

Minnesota Twins vs. Los Angeles Angels
Minnesota’s Tyler Duffey has taken a hard and steep fall after a very good albeit fraudulent successful start to the season for him in his first few starts. Duffey has a 8.62 ERA in this last three starts allowing 15 runs in his last 15.2 innings of work and the Over is on a 4-0-1 run in his last 5 starts and he has yielded 26 runs in his last 5 starts spanning 28 innings of work.

I expect the LA Angels to be able to have their share of success at the plate here against Duffey who has been roughed up repeatedly over the last month. Hector Santiago will be on the mound for the Angels and the lefty has been a ‘bet against’ pitcher for me in recent outings and we have had plenty of success taking advantage of his struggles. Santiago has allowed 25 runs in his last 5 starts over 17 innings of work and the Over is a perfect 5-0 in his last 5 trips to the hill.

The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 head-to-head meetings between the Twins and Angels and Minnesota enters this game on a 8-0-1 Over the total streak in their last 9 games. Both bullpens are very suspect and capable of allowing runs late in the game. I expect runs in bunches from both squads sending this game Over the total offered by the MLB Odds.
