This sports handicapping article focuses on two National League starting pitching matchups on Monday. After reading you will have the edge needed to be a winner with your MLB wagering today.

San Francisco Giants (Vogelsong) vs. Philadelphia Phillies (Lee) 7:05 PM ET
The Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong has gone 0-4 against the money line in his last 4-starts. However, it’s been no fault of the right-hander as the Giants scored 1-run total in those 4-outings, and were shutout in each of the last 3. During that 4-game stretch Vogelsong has posted a very good 2.92 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and had an 8:1 strikeout to walk ratio. The Giants hurler has struggled in 8 road starts this season posting a lofty 5.18 ERA, a 1.61 WHIP, and has allowed 1-homer per 6.0 innings pitched in those outings.

The Phillies starter Cliff Lee will be making his first start since May 18th after being placed on the disabled list with a strained tendon in his left elbow. Prior to going on the DL the southpaw had gone 5-5 against the money line with a solid 3.18 ERA. In his last 4-starts at home he was terrific in posting a 1.21 ERA and a better than 10:1 strikeout to walk ratio.

Advantage: I’m going to give the slightest of edge to Ryan Vogelsong over Cliff Lee. My opinion is based mostly on the long layoff that Lee has had, and the fact that Vogelsong has been extremely sharp in recent starts.

Cincinnati Reds (Latos) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (Peralta) 8:10 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds starter Matt Latos has seen 3 of his last 4-starts stay under the total while posting a stellar 2.33 ERA and a 0.63 WHIP. In 3 road starts this season the right-hander has an excellent 0.90 ERA and 0.45 WHIP. Latos has one start versus the Brewers this season, and it came on July 6th. In that outing Latos allowed 2 earned runs on just 4-hits in 8.0 innings during a 4-2 Reds win. The Reds hurler has seen each of his last 4-starts at Miller Park in Milwaukee stay under the total.

The Brewers starter Wily Peralta is coming off a much needed strong start in his last outing, allowing 0 earned runs, and 3-hits in 7.0 innings, during a Brewers 11-2 home win over the Cardinals. Peralta has seen his last 6-starts all go over the total while posting a lofty 5.45 ERA. The Brewers right-hander has gone 11-8 against the money line this season with a respectable 3.72 ERA.

Advantage: I give the edge to the more consistent pitcher Matt Latos of the Reds over the Brewers Wily Peralta.
