Experienced sports handicapper provides a look at MLB Overnight Betting Lines for the games taking place on Monday, and a couple of MLB betting picks to make your day.

Chicago White Sox vs. New York Mets
I’ve documented the struggles of Matt Harvey quite a bit of late and until I see an end in sight to his diminished velocity, confidence and overall ability to get outs, he remains a ‘bet against’ pitcher for me moving forward including here as he takes the mound for the Mets against the Chicago White Sox.

Harvey has allowed 19 runs on 27 hits in his last 13.1 innings of work over three starts and the Nationals hit it out of the park three times against him in his last start. On the flip side, Jose Quintana will get the nod for the White Sox and this should be a good matchup for him against a Mets team that has floundered this season against lefties hitting just .230 against southpaws for 3.32 runs per game.

Quintana has a tremendous 2.05 ERA with 7 earned runs allowed in 30.2 innings pitched on the road along with a strong ratio of 8 walks and 33 strikeouts. The NY Mets are 3-7 with Matt Harvey on the mound this season and just 1-3 in his last 4 starts. This is a fair price to support the White Sox as one of our MLB Picks on Monday.

Minnesota Twins vs. Oakland Athletics
I haven’t been all that enthused about backing the Minnesota Twins who are still among one of the worst teams in MLB but the Twins have managed to play marginally better in recent games having won three straight games including the first two games of their weekend series against the Seattle Mariners. They might actually enjoy a rare starting pitching edge here as Ervin Santana takes the mound.

Santana has not been spectacular but has been solid since returning from the DL allowing 3 runs or less in three of his last four starts and his daytime numbers are worth noting here for this early start 1pm PT game as Santana owns a 2.70 ERA in four day game starts this season. On the flip side, we’ve been continually fading Kendall Graveman this season for Oakland and I have no problems doing so again here. Graveman has a 5.36 ERA this season and while he does have better numbers at home, the Oakland Athletics have quite simply failed repeatedly to win games with him on the mound.

Oakland is 1-8 in Graveman’s 9 starts including 0-4 at home and he’s been at his absolute worst pitching in day games. Graveman has a woeful 9.00 ERA in two daytime starts this season allowing 8 runs in as many innings pitched along with 5 home runs in his two day game outings earlier this season and the Athletics failed to win either of those two games. Minnesota’s lineup has been hitting the baseball better of late with the likes of Joe Mauer and Miguel Sano in good form at the plate right now and there slowly seems to be some sort of confidence finally brewing within this Twins team.

The near even $$ price with the Twins on MLB Odds is worth a wager here against an Athletics team that hasn’t been winning games for Kendall Graveman throughout the season.
