Going through rough patches will happen occasionally, but the best is to answer with a win. Let's put a stop to the bleeding with these MLB picks of the day!

A Note For My Readers
Don't be discouraged. If you look at my season last year, I've been through a rough patch or two and then came a 10 game winning streak on more than one occasion. We don't need to get carried away. The first step is to find a good spot on today's MLB odds boards, take it from there, and start a new streak of winning MLB picks  that outshines the losing streak. Let's go!!!

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves

Miracles Do Happen
Amazingly enough, the Atlanta Braves are on a 4 game winning streak, but make no mistakes about it, this is a 100 plus loss team that's going to stay in the basement.

Tonight, they face the Los Angeles Dodgers and although it's really too early to be thinking about the division lead. the Dodgers don't want to give the San Francisco Giants any false hope. At respectable odds, this is a game that the Dodgers must win. A game against the Atlanta Braves should be an automatic victory for L.A.

Not only did the Dodgers lose, they got beaten up by Atlanta, 8-1. I actually think that this is a good thing because odds makers, will make the Dodgers less of a betting favorite due to the extreme loss.

Never Faced Pressure
Ross Stripling get's the start for the Dodgers and in 3 career starts, has a 2.03 ERA while allowing just 5 hits in 13 1/3 innings. Word has it that Julio Teheran is attempting to shake off symptoms of the flu for Atlanta. He's a career 0-4 with a 6.08 ERA in 4 starts in his career against the Dodgers. Even though Teheran has had success in his Major League career, prospects don't sound good for him to fare well in this baseball game and he hasn't been the same pitcher for a good period of time now.

Tyler Flowers
I would expect to see catcher, Tyler Flowers, back in the Atlanta lineup after the career game that he had yesterday. Flowers was a perfect 4 for 4 with 1 run and 3 RBI's. He's currently hitting. 412 and has to be feeling some confidence, coming into this game. The Braves only outhit the Dodgers on a 2/1 ratio, but made their hits count in their 8-1 victory.

Mallex Smith, who had only had 4 RBI's coming into this game for his career, had a 3 RBI double. Sometimes the unexpected happens, but the Dodgers are the team with Yasiel Puig, Adrian Gonzalez, and more talent.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox

Archer Struggling
Nobody could've thought that before the season started, Chris Archer would be 0-3 with a 5.87 ERA. People also couldn't have expected Rick Porcello to be a perfect 2-0. That said, Porcello has had run support as he 5.11 ERA can attest to.

The Red Sox (6-7) are giving you just what was expected as the American League East Division is filled with a bunch of average teams with either young players or veterans such as David Ortiz. The Red Sox are somewhat the definition of this division as it's up for grabs.

Although Archer has been awful, the Sox can't take this game for granted because Archer is still a top-flight hurler, The problem for Tampa Bay is where are the rest of the runs going to come from? Evan Longoria is the star of the team and that's not saying much.

The Rays are a slight betting favorite in this game and in game 1 of this series, defeated Boston 3-0. In the last 6 Boston Red Sox games, the total has been 8 runs or under as the offense hasn't been clicking.

Big Papi
This is David Ortiz's farewell tour and at 40 years of age, he's proven that he still has it as he leads Boston with 3 HR and 10 RBI to go along with a .275 BA. This game should be a tight, low scoring game, and I expect Chris Archer to snap out of it. Take the Rays, but just 1 Unit.
