Two pitchers starting to come into their prime has me backing the 'under' as part of my Sunday MLB betting ticket, as the Tampa Bay Rays visit the Minnesota Twins.

Pitchers and the Betting Line
Chris Archer and Kyle Gibson are both having solid years.  MLB betting odds makers have made this total at 7.5 which is below average for an American League game, but it makes sense with Archer at a career ERA of 3.30 and Gibson at 4.57.  But at 26 and 27 years old respectively it seems these two guys are primed for a break out year and we should see the run total down in this game with mediocre offenses. Archer comes in with a 2.59 ERA and a WHIP just above 1.00, he has electric stuff and just came back to allow 2 earned runs in 7 innings against the Yankees after struggling a bit in his two previous starts prior. Gibson comes in with an ERA of 2.70 and WHIP of 1.25.  He is not a big strikeout pitcher but he is also not a big walk guy either.  After a bad opening day against the Tigers last month he has been excellent his last six starts allowing only 7 earned runs in those games with allowing zero in two of them.

Coming to the Plate
On the season the Twins rank 8th in runs scored per game with the Rays down at the bottom of the league ranked 24th.  In the last three games the Twins have been slumping a bit though and are ranked in the bottom half of the league in that category.  While Minnesota is ranked 10th in batting average both teams are either 15th or worst in slugging, on base %, and strikeouts per game.  Archer and Gibson should both be able to keep them in check.

This probably won’t be a very exciting game to watch.  I am confident in placing my MLB picks on the under in this spot in what should be a low scoring affair.
