The Dodgers will be aiming to make amends after a brutal loss in the series opener yesterday. Will they overcome the Reds as the MLB odds-on favorites tonight?

Odds Overview
With Alex Wood set to toe the rubber, the Dodgers are firm -175 ML favorites right now, though there's still obviously plenty of time for those MLB odds to shift. You can currently find a Cincinnati win priced at approximately +150.

If a total play seems more up your alley for this matchup, the O/U seems to have settled in at seven runs. That's a reasonably low number, but Wood has been solid and new callup John Lamb, who will be making his first major league start, has been excellent in the minors all year long. So, we're not too shocked at the low total.

Los Angeles Dodgers (Wood)
As a team the Dodgers have been scuffling a bit, as they've lost five of their last seven overall to fall to 64-51 overall on the season. Despite their recent struggles, they're still atop the NL West, though they don't have the luxury of a big lead. San Francisco is just 2.5 games back right now.

Tonight Los Angeles will hope to bounce back after getting crushed in yesterday's series opener, and the onus will fall on left-hander Alex Wood, who will be making his third start for the Dodgers. Wood hasn't been dominant whatsoever in his first couple of outings, but he hasn't gotten beaten up badly either; either way, Wood has been a model of consistency throughout the season and is sure to help stabilize the Dodgers' rotation ahead of a playoff run.

Wood is sitting at 7-7 overall with a 3.72 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, and he comes in having allowed seven earned runs over his 11 and 1/3 innings of work for his new team. Let's see if he can come through with a quality outing versus Todd Frazier, Joey Votto and company.

Cincinnati Reds (Lamb)
The Reds exploded for 10 runs yesterday to pick up their second straight win. Nonetheless, it's been a poor season for Cincinnati overall, as they're at 51-62 overall without any chance of making the postseason.

With the Reds preparing for the future already, it's no surprise to see John Lamb being called up to make his MLB debut. Lamb has been a stud in the minors, as he's gone 10-2 with a 2.67 ERA and 117:36 K:BB ratio over 111.1 IP. Those are excellent numbers, so naturally we're eager to see how Lamb holds up at the highest level.

It's not going to be a walk in the park against one of the most feared offenses in all of baseball, but Lamb may feel better knowing his opponents haven't been nearly as effective against southpaws this season. Regardless, Lamb will be tested mightily in his first taste of the majors.

MLB Pick
Believe it or not, we have faith in both of these starting pitchers in tonight's situation, and as such we're going to be on the UNDER as one of our MLB picks for Friday.

While it's true Wood hasn't been dominant in his first couple of starts for LA, he's been pitching extremely well overall in recent weeks, and this matchup with the disappointing Reds isn't all that intimidating as some may think. On the other side, we've got a young arm in Lamb making his debut, but we've seen him do great things in Triple A, and the Dodgers aren't nearly as scary against lefties offensively.

Odds makers aren't expecting a heck of a lot of offense, and neither are we. So, let's add the UNDER to our collection of plays for tonight's busy MLB slate. Good luck!
