Now is a good time to make some coin as respective MLB teams desperately need wins to either keep their lead or stay in the post-season hunt. Here are you’re MLB betting picks of for Sunday.

Capper Catalano’s Record: 199-173 -19.28 Units
We flipped the script from Friday’s plays as an Alex Avila 2- run home run gave us the win with Detroit with Saturday's MLB picks. It was a big win as it was a 3-unit play. The Washington/Mets total didn’t fare so well as Zack Wheeler just didn’t have his good stuff working for him against the Nats who dominate the Mets for our 1 –unit pick..

Los Angeles Dodgers (84-64) vs. San Francisco Giants (82-66)

How Do You Come Back From a 17-0 Beating?
I know we’ve entered the football season, but this is a baseball score and the San Francisco Giants have to feel really demoralized losing a game like this at home against a team that they’re fighting it out for the division with.

Not only that, the Giants have the luxury of facing the best pitcher in baseball in Clayton Kershaw on Sunday. Are we in store for another massacre or can the Giants pull off the miracle of all miracles and defeat the great Kershaw after suffering such a beating?

Clayton Kershaw
Most of the time, a pitcher won’t win a Cy Young Award and a MVP Award together, but in Kershaw’s case, he deserves it.

On the season, Kershaw is 18-3 with a dazzling 1.67 ERA. His pitching style reverts back to the pitchers of the 1960’s and 1970’s with Bob Gibson and Sandy Koufax. Unless he has a hiccup, the Dodgers only need to score 2 runs or more and I feel confident betting on Clayton Kershaw anytime.

Left For Dead
Let’s not forget the play of Matt Kemp. He was supposed to be the best player in the National League a couple of years back and got injured. Recently, Kemp has come back from the dead and is having a very solid season. After going 3 for 4 yesterday, Kemp is the hottest Dodger at 19 HR, 72 RBI, and a respectable .284 BA. The numbers really don’t indicate how improved that Matt Kemp is.

Take the Dodgers as your betting MLB pick with Clayton Kershaw getting the start.

Sunday Night Baseball: New York Yankees (76-71) vs. Baltimore Orioles (88-60)

A Matter of Time
Baltimore has the American League East Division wrapped up, but the Yankees are still looking to hold onto their faint playoff hopes, 5 games behind the Kansas City Royals with 15 games remaining in the season. Anything is possible, therefore expect New York to come out strong.

As we know, the Orioles will be without Chris Davis due to his usage of amphetamines. This is a major blow to a team having a great season. Davis may have been hitting below the Mendoza Line but he was really coming into his own at the right time. It will be up to guys like Steve Pearce, Adam Jones, and Nelson Cruz to shoulder the offensive load for the O’s.

Sayonara Yankees?
Today’s starter, 39 year old Hiroki Kuroda, sure hopes that this is not the case. Kuroda has the tendency to slow down during the end of the season, but Yankees manager, Joe Girardi, needs 7 good innings out of Kuroda today.

We all know that New York’s offense isn’t what it once was. There really isn’t any intimidating player in their lineup. Martin Prado had been a nice acquisition for the Yanks, but he’s much more effective against left-handed pitching and the Yankees will be facing right-hander Chris Tillman (12-5, 3.36). The only benefit of facing Tillman for the Yanks is that he builds high pitch counts by the 5th or 6th inning. New York will need to either establish a lead early or beat up on the Baltimore bullpen.

This is Derek Jeter’s last season after 2 decades and New York doesn’t want it to end, therefore you can expect them to play with a sense of urgency. The Yankees are coming off of a 3-2 win over Baltimore on Saturday and in this game they only picked up 4 hits. This team just isn’t hitting. The outcome relies on Kuroda.
