Texas Rangers vs. New York Yankees
A lack of betting market respect has been commonplace with the Texas Rangers of late and it appears to be continuing here against the New York Yankees. Texas is 50-27 this season including a 22-15 road record and they have been the far better of these two teams and regardless of the starting pitching matchup, Texas is not a +180 worthy price range of inferiority to the New York Yankees in this Wednesday night game.

Yes, Masahiro Tanaka for New York is probably the better starter here over Nick Martinez for Texas but Tanaka hasn’t been unhittable of late either and has allowed 20 runs over his last 31 innings pitched here at Yankee Stadium which is not great by any stretch and Tanaka has a 4.59 ERA in 8 home starts this season. Texas hit Tanaka for 4 runs on 9 hits in 6 innings in his lone previous career start against the Rangers which resulted in a 5-2 loss for the Yanks. Nick Martinez is a league average and marginal pitcher for the Rangers and there isn’t any denying that but he’s been serviceable allowing 7 runs in 10.1 innings over two starts against Boston and St. Louis since joining the Rangers rotation due to their slew of starting pitching injuries.

Despite mediocre career numbers, it’s worth noting that Martinez shut down the Yankees in this ballpark last season allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings of a 15-4 Texas win. Texas has the better lineup, better defense and while the Yanks get a bullpen edge that edge is somewhat lessened by the fact the New York pen has not been as dominant in recent weeks. This is simply too much of an overlay in the price with a mediocre Yankees team against one of the best teams in baseball and that is enough to step in with MLB pick on Texas at this massive and attractive underdog price.

Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox
The Minnesota Twins Over streak which is 17-3-1 in their last 21 games is worth riding here as two very hittable pitchers take the mound. Ricky Nolasco gets the nod for Minnesota and he’s been roughed up many times this season with a 4.95 ERA and U.S. Cellular Field here in Chicago has been a house of horrors for the veteran Nolasco who has yielded 12 runs on 19 hits in 11 innings over his last two starts in this ballpark which both flew Over the total.

I expect the White Sox lineup which has sprung to life over the course of the last week scoring 31 runs in their last 5 games to do damage here. However, James Shields is not trustworthy at all either for Chicago. Shields was marginally better in this last start against Boston allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings but still had to dance his way out of trouble time and time again. His control was still very poor issuing 4 walks compared to 3 strikeouts in that outing.

Shields two starts here in Chicago with the White Sox since joining the team have been disastrous with him getting bashed for 14 runs on 17 hits in 7 innings against Detroit and Washington and I don’t believe he can get through a clean outing here against Minnesota which has been able to produce at the plate a lot better in recent games and both bullpens are capable of leaving the door open for late shenanigans. The Over is 5-0 in Shields last 5 starts and 8-1-1 in Nolasco’s last 10 starts. Expect runs in bunches here for MLB odds.
