We're coming off of huge win yesterday in which we selected the Atlanta Braves to knock off Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals. Could there be more value on the board for MLB Saturday? Let's see as we provide you with our coveted MLB Picks of the Day.

CH White Sox vs Miami Marlins

"Big Game" Shields?
Well traveled pitcher, James "Big Game" Shields (5-14, 5.43 ERA) get's the start against the Fish and he's been far from a bigtime player. Shields and the White Sox face starter, Adam Conley (8-6, 3.70 ERA ) and we throw out his last start in which Conley won, but got hit hard because it was at Coors Field. Conley has pitched consistently well and gives the Marlins a decisive edge in this matchup along with a Marlins offense which is far superior to that of Chicago's.

We go back to James Shields for a moment and after a dismal start to the season, Shields appeared to get his act together pitching rather well. That ended in his last 2 starts as he's allowed 14 runs on 15 hits in 6 1/3 innings. We should start calling him "Small Time Shields" as this pitcher is one of he worst in Major League Baseball. I don't know exactly what to expect out of him, but facing the Marlins offense, he has his work cut out for him as the Marlins are rather underrated.

Keeping Pace With the Nats
Despite having a solid season, Miami is in desperate need of a victory. They've lost 2 straight games and are now 7 1/2 games behind the National League East leading Washington Nationals. Superstar, Giancarlo Stanton (24 HR, 67 RBI, .239 BA) has been a huge disappointment this season. Maybe getting hit in the face with the baseball last season is getting overlooked as Stanton is simply not the same player.

The Marlins have been carried by Christian Yelich (12 HR, 67 RBI, .320 BA) and Martin Prado (6 HR,50 RBI, .321 BA). Both of these players have high on base percentages and it wouldn't surprise me if they played effectively against James Shields. Make Miami your MLB pick as Adam Conley should stifle the White Sox offense and the Marlins have the offense to win here.

Detroit Tigers vs Texas Rangers

Good Pitching Wins Games
It's very rare that you see the Detroit Tigers (61-54) as such a large betting underdog, but it's expected as Cole Hamels (12-3, 2.89 ERA) get's the start for the Rangers and he's had an outstanding season. The Rangers are looking to win it all this season at 69-48 and they've played particularly well at home (36-18). With hitters such as Miguel Cabrera, Victor Marinez, and Ian Kinsler, are the Tigers good value here is the question?

Detroit has picked the wrong time to play poorly as we have less than 2 months to go in the regular season and the Tigers have lost 5 straight games. This losing streak has put the Tigers 7 1/2 games behind the Cleveland Indians and there's always a wild-card spot to play for, but they need to win a game before this losing streak get's out of hand.

Dealing with Cole Hamels will be no easy task. In his last 5 starts, Hamels has allowed just 7 earned runs in 34 1/3 innings. I look for Hamels to pitch well. It also doesn't hurt his cause that he's catching a Tigers team at the right time; during a losing streak.

Best Hitting Catcher In Baseball
Trading for Jonathan Lucroy has paid off for the Texas Rangers in their quest for a World Series title. Lucroy is coming off of a 2 home run game in yesterday's victory over the Tigers and he also has 5 home runs and 9 runs batted in to go along with a .333 batting average in his last 24 at-bats. Both the Luctoy trade and the Beltran trade have worked out really well for Texas as both of these players are the hottest hitters on the team. Carlos Beltran also homered yesterday.

Momentum play's a large role in success in everything in life. Texas has the momentum and the confidence to go along with Cole Hamels pitching. Lay the massive amount of juice and make Texas your pick with MLB odds of -167.
