Tonight we have some more really good pitching in the night session. Is the chalk the way to go is the question? We will discuss this with our MLB Picks of the Day for Saturday.

Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees
Pretty much everyone knew that when the Los Angeles Angels made their East Coast trip to Yankee Stadium, the Yankees were going to get the best of them. Then, on Friday it was the hard hitting Detroit Tigers turn and there were questions. New York proceeded to win their 5th straight game and eclipse the .500 mark with a 4-0 victory over the Tigers as C.C. Sabathia was brilliant.

It also helped New York that Miguel Cabrera was held hitless. Tonight, we have another big-time pitcher's duel as Justin Verlander (5-5, 3.97 ERA) of the Tigers square'soff against Masahiro Tanaka (3-1, 2.76 ERA)

Again, New York's goal will be to reach either the 6th or 7th inning with the led intact and to reach the bullpen. Tanaka hasn't given any indication that he's not capable of accomplishing this feat.

Unlucky But Effective
This is just what Tanaka has been this season as he should have way more than 3 wins on the season. For some unexplainable reason, when it's his turn to pitch, he provides the Yankees with 7 quality innings and isn't given an adequate amount of run support.

Take his last few starts for instance. In his last 2 starts, he's pitched 13 innings while allowing a mere 3 earned runs, but is 0-1 during that period of time. The Yankees offense knows that they haven't delivered for Tanaka. I've heard it in post-game interviews. Now, the Yankees are red hot and this would be a great opportunity for the Japanese import if he can get past a tough Tigers offense led by Miguel Cabrera (12 HR, 36 RBI, .298 BA) and a tough opponent in Justin Verlander.

Carlos Beltran
I haven't seen a hitter at this stage of his career, come on in such a short period of time and carry a team the way that Carlos Beltran has carried the Yankees through mid-May up until now. I'm sure that the Yankees are shocked. Beltran has been unstoppable!

Since May 19th, the Great Beltran is 26 for 69 with 8 HR and 25 RBI. In his last 5 games, he's 9 for 18 with 3 HR and 11 RBI. Players just don't hit like this at 39 years of age, but Beltran has been known for some really nice runs throughout his career and one would think that he would play a role in this game. Make the Yankees your MLB Picks.

Miami Marlins vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
In my book, this is a recipe for disaster as the Diamondbacks were supposed to be one of the better teams in the MLB and instead find themselves in the cellar of the National League West Division at 26-37. Paul Goldschmidt and Zack Greinke both haven't lived up to expectations and now the D'Backs have to face a Miami Marlins team (32-29 ) with some confidence and ace Jose Fernandez (9-2, 2.29 ERA) get's the start for the fish against a pitcher in Zack Godley, who has very little Major League Experience. This game sets up very well for the Marllns.

The Marlins have also been able to be successful without the help of Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton is just 3 for his last 23 at bats and is hitting under .200. Nobody could've ever predicted that one of the most talented hitters in baseball would go into such a major slump such as this. Despite Stanton's slump, the Marlins have been scoring runs. In their last 2 games, they've scored 18 runs. This is a great timing for a Jose Fernandez start.

Jose Fernandez
Fernandez is one of the elite pitchers in the MLB. He went down with an injury last season that impeded his progress, but he's back on track and at just 23 years of age, possesses a 31-11 career record with a 2.38 ERA. If this kid keeps pitching in such a dominant manner and striking out everything in sight, he could go down as one of the best pitchers ever.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. On the road this season, Fernandez carries an ERA of 2.61 with 41 strikeouts in 31 innings. In his last 2 starts, he hasn't allowed a single run (14 innings) and has allowed just 7 hits while striking out 20 batters. Basically, he's not allowing anyone on base and with the way that Arizona has been playing, I don't expect him to allow much from the Diamondbacks offense. Take Miami on the MLB Odds with confidence as your betting pick.
