With the MLB All-Star Game just a few days away, teams are trying to close out the first half of the season on a positive note. We are also looking to close out on a high note with our betting picks also.

St Louis Cardinals (51-43) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (52-42)
Cardinals Coming On Strong
Milwaukee has absolutely dominated the first 94 games of the season and has to be considered one of the most improved teams in baseball this season. St. Louis started of poorly this year and we look at the standings to find the Brewers just 1 game ahead of the Cardinals.

Milwaukee really needs these next 2 games because they’re currently on a 6 game losing streak and I don’t want to be graphic, but all of their hard work is going into the toilet; they can ill-afford to lose the division lead before the All-Star Break.

Adam Wainright
Right on cue, St. Louis’ best pitcher, Adam Wainwright (11-4, 1.79) takes the mound at Miller Park tonight and if Milwaukee wants to remain on top of the National League Central Division, they’re going to have to knock Wainwright out of the box. This will be a tall order as Wainwright has pitched 14 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings and in his last 5 starts (37 2/3 innings) has allowed just 2 earned runs.

Milwaukee has the offensive ammunition to compete with any team in the majors. They will need their heavy hitters in Ryan Braun (11 HR, 50 RBI, .293), Carlos Gomez (14 HR, 46 RBI, .298), Jonathan Lucroy (9 HR, 44 RBI, .319), Aramis Ramirez (11 HR, 42 RBI, .285), and even Scooter Gennett (7 HR, 31 RBI, .307) to be out in full force. I mean look at that offensive depth! You would think that the entire Brewers lineup is on PED’s.

One of our recommended MLB picks is to take St. Louis in this matchup as the Wainwright has been “lights out”.

Los Angeles Angels (55-37) vs. Texas Rangers (38-55)
Total Mismatch
There’s not much to be said here as you have the Los Angeles Angels and the best player in baseball in Mike Trout facing a Texas Rangers team who are in last place of the American League West Division having lost 6 straight games and 9 out of their last 10 games.

Underrated
The only good thing that you can say about Texas is that they have a strong representative for the All Star Game in Adrian Beltre. Beltre is making a strong cause for himself to somewhat “backdoor” the Baseball Hall of Fame when all is said and done.

Dominant L.A. Offense
After a 15-6 destruction of the Rangers on Thursday, the Angels played it a bit more low key on Friday as they defeated the Rangers 3-0, influencing today's odds as a result. The Angels offense is currently working on all cylinders. They rank 1st in the majors in runs, 3rd in on base-percentage, and 3rd in batting average. A key reason for this has been the 1-2 punch of Kole Calhoun and Mike Trout. Calhoun has steadily improved as the leadoff man, showing an ability to get on base, knock in runs, and hitting for power while Trout is simply the best player in the game and at such a young age.

On the season, Mike Trout has 22 HR, 69 RBI, .310 BA (.399 OBP), and 10 SB. I smell an MVP Award in Trout’s future, especially the way that the Angels have improved as a team. The only concern for the Halos in this game is the health of starter, Jered Weaver.

Weaver (9-6, 3.50) was only able to go 2 innings in his last start against Toronto due to a back injury. He says that he’s ready to pitch and that means put your sports pick on the Angels in this lopsided matchup.
