Time to continue on our baseball journey for those of us predisposed to making time to look over an assortment of numbers and taking money to determine if what we are finding is indeed accurate.

Our focus here will continue to be on baseball totals and we will have three more games to go against the MLB odds released by sportsbooks, with the full intent of bettering our recent record of 11-4, which included yesterday's 3-0 sweep. It does not go that way every day, however, sometimes the hard work pays off.

Right Back on Boston and New York for Lower Score

One of my MLB picks that was correct Friday was the Un9.5 on the Red Sox and Yankees, as we plucked that matchup early before it went to nine, with New York a 5-4 winner. Yesterday's pitching match was pretty good, but today's is much better with Drew Pomeranz (3.36 ERA) going against Luis Severino (2.91) on FS1 at 4:05 EDT. With rare exception, both have been in very good grooves and especially so lately, with the Boston lefty sporting 2.50 ERA in his last three starts and Severino downright stingy at 0.96 in the same amount of games. With the total posted at 8, the Yanks are 12-4 UNDER in the second half of the season versus winning teams.

St. Louis Offense Nearly Unstoppable

With last night's 8-5 victory over Atlanta, the Cardinals are keeping the pressure on the Chicago Cubs to win or fall out of first place. St. Louis has manufactured a seven-game winning streak thanks to an offense that is clubbing the ball like a slow-pitch team in averaging 8.85 runs per contest. It would appear unlikely, someone named Lucas Sims (5.25) is actually going to be able to setup a roadblock before home plate and prevent the Redbirds from scoring. With the total set at 9, expect the Braves to also make a contribution towards a larger score since they are superb 15-2 OVER in road games when playing against a team with a winning record this season.

Royals and White Sox Pitching Smells Like Runs

With apologies to Nirvana song "Smells Like Teen Spirit", we pick up the scent of runs being scored on the South Side of Chi-Town. Let's cut through the garbage and call Ian Kennedy (4.83) for K.C. and James Shields (6.03) for Chicago what they are, two pitchers past their prime who no longer consistently retire batters on a regular basis. Oddsmakers are saying at much with the total at 10, with two offenses that combine to score 8.7 runs per game. Lastly, the slumping Royals are -145 favorites and they are 16-6 OVER as a road fave of -125 to -175 and Kennedy is 9-0 OVER taking on division foes in 2017.
