Big day of baseball action to take on the sportsbooks MLB odds, with several mid to late afternoon games depending on where you live, so let’s skip the longer intro and get into them.

These are my top three MLB picks as of this morning and in another nice stretch with a 7-2 record.

Blue Jays vs. Twins: Minnesota Continues to Flourish
The first game on Saturday features the club MLB baseball handicappers and those placing sports pick love, the Minnesota Twins. Not only has Minnesota been a great story all season, but as of today they are the best bet in the game at +14.9 units.

With Phil Hughes not the same pitcher as a year ago, Kyle Gibson (4-3, 2.72 ERA) has taken over as the ace of Twins and in his past five starts has a sensational 1.32 ERA. The right-hander can be a very frustrating hurler to face as he causes opposing batters to beat the ball into the ground with his fastball having late sinking action, which he throws in the 89-92 range. His control is solid and works both sides of the plate and also utilizes a slider and an excellent change to keep hitters off balance.

Toronto is the top scoring team in baseball at 5.2 runs a game and has a collection of free-swingers who prefer to lift or drive the baseball which is hard to do on Gibson. The Blue Jays ended the Twins five-game winning streak last night thanks to red-hot Chris Colabello and Josh Donaldson.

But trusting the Blue Jays off a win has not been good against the MLB betting odds with their 7-15 record and against AL pitchers with an ERA of 4.00 or lower, they are pathetic 1-11. GTBets.eu has Minnesota at -115 and with the Twins 7-0 after two straight games where they stranded five or less runners on base, this looks like a bargain.

Dodgers vs. Cardinals: Take a W(R)ide on the Wacha Express in St. Louis
Two games on FOX tonight and one features two of the first place teams in the National League, Los Angeles and St. Louis. The Cardinals are -145 home favorites and if St. Louis players thought about betting odds they would probably tell you they should be -400 with how they feel playing behind Michael Wacha (7-0, 2.14).

Third baseman Matt Carpenter said the Cards are “supremely confident” with Wacha on the mound and why not, they have won all nine of his starts this season and 11 in a row dating back to September. Wacha has become more determined with runners on base as opponents are hitting a silly .160 against him with runners on.

The Dodgers are in a historic rut after last night’s 3-0 defeat. L.A. has a streak of 37 consecutive innings of failing to score on the road, which is their longest in 103 years as a franchise and will take dead aim on the major league record of 46, which is held by the ’85 Atlanta Braves. The Redbirds are 19-5 at Busch, have Wacha starting against a Dodgers team who cannot buy a run on the road, have to take St. Louis here.

Braves vs. Giants: San Fran and Lincecum - Just Like the Old Days
Tim Lincecum (5-2, 2.56) still might make baseball bettor’s wary but it is impossible to not think he’s figured something out to be 4-0 with a 2.05 ERA in five starts in May. The slight in stature two-time Cy Young winner spent the off-season working with the person who knew him better than anyone else, his father, who help construct his delivery to maximize his power for his size. Lincecum will be 31 next month and no longer has the mid to upper 90’s fastball, but the work he’s put in has improved his command of that pitch and he’s not going into as deep of counts as he has the past several years.

Lincecum is no longer an ace, yet as we have witnessed this year, he can still get hitters out and is playing on a team that is a scalding 21-7 this month. Lincecum in his career is 10-6 with a 2.52 ERA against Atlanta and faces a Braves squad that is 1-4 halfway through their 10-game road trip.

San Francisco has been downgraded to -150 home favorites, but with Atlanta having rung up only eight runs on this away excursion and Lincecum and the Giants 11-1 at home versus teams averaging 2.75 or less extra base hits per game the last two seasons (Giants Record), San Fran is the choice.
