Baltimore got this series to even by holding on for a 4-3 victory Tuesday night, taking our cash. We'll try to do better with a winning MLB pick on Wednesday night's series rubber match.

Yanks-O's: Game 2 Review
Baltimore scored single runs in Tuesday night's Game 2 in the first, third and fourth innings off New York starter CC Sabathia, and later led 4-1. The Yankees got within 4-3 with a couple of runs in the top of the eighth, but couldn't complete the comeback.

New York left guys on second base in the first, second, sixth and eighth innings.

Miguel Gonzalez picked up the victory for the O's, allowing just one run and four hits through seven innings, walking one while whiffing 10. Meanwhile, Sabathia gave up four runs and seven hits through seven frames, walking one while whiffing seven.

Zach Britton, the converted starter, got the last four outs for his second save of the season.

Baltimore won Tuesday as a -110 post-time favorite, and the game stayed UNDER its total of eight runs in MLB odds.

Yanks-O's: Game 3 Betting Odds
In the very early betting the best price we could find on Baltimore with Bud Norris was the -119 offered at Pinnacle, while New York with Nathan Eovaldi could be found getting +110 at a bunch of places, including 5Dimes.

Most books were also posting the total at 8.5, although there were a couple of eights out there.

Wednesday's Pitching Match-Up
Norris will be making his second start of this season, and hopes for better results, after getting clipped for eight runs and seven hits in just three innings of a 12-5 loss to Toronto last Friday. Norris gave up four runs in the first inning, one in the third, then got chased during a five-run Jays fourth.

Last year Norris, by our tough standards, went just 10-for-28 on quality starts, but Baltimore went 19-9 when he started, which ranked among the top ten records for starters in the Majors. At least some of that, though, can be attributed to good run support.

Norris started four times against the Yankees last year, holding them to seven runs on 17 hits through 23 innings, walking six while striking out 28. The Orioles won all four of those games.

Eovaldi will be making his second start this season for his new team, after giving up three runs and eight hits through 5 1/3 innings of that 6-5, 19-inning loss to Boston last Friday. Eovaldi gave up one run in the first inning, then threw four scoreless innings, before getting chased by a couple of runs in the sixth.

Last year, pitching for Miami, Eovaldi went a respectable 18-for-33 on quality starts, but the Marlins gave him very little help offensively, and went 10-23 in his starts, which ranked among the very worst in the Majors. But that certainly wasn't all his fault.

Do keep in mind before placing your MLB picks, this will be Eovaldi's first-ever start against the Orioles.

Injury Update
New York OF Brett Gardner missed Tuesday's game after getting hit on the wrist Monday, and his status for Wednesday is uncertain.

Yanks-O's Game 3 Pick
Norris was tough on New York last year, but his first start this season went badly, and he was bad down in the Grapefruit League this Spring. So at the moment we're a little leery of him. Instead, we think the value on Wednesday's game resides with the Yankees.
