As the Kansas City Royals travel to Chicago to face the White Sox, MLB odds makers are set the run-line differential close. We focus our handicapping attention on the Money Line for Friday.
Kansas City Royals (Duffy) vs. Chicago White Sox (Quintana) (-108) 8:10 ET WGN TV
At 8:10 pm ET, as televised by WGN TV, the Kansas City Royals take on the Chicago White Sox in the 2nd of a 4-game, extended weekend set. To open the season, the Royals crushed the White Sox (3-0) by a combined score of 21-7. Last night’s hard fought (3-2) victory was punctuated by the Royals’ second brawl in a week, as they are quickly becoming known as a hard-nosed team. That victory extended their series dominance over the White Sox to 22-7, including 16-3 in this series at this site. After that win, the Royals now have the best record in the American League at 12-4.
CWS is again languishing with a 6-9 mark this season. That’s really not a surprise, considering the Pale Hose had just 73 wins last season and just 63 wins the previous year. In neither of those years, did they post a winning record on their home turf, U.S. Cellular Field. Tonight’s starter, Quintana, does not figure to be the answer. For the season, Quintana has an 8.40 ERA, included in that mark is getting blasted by Detroit in his last outing in which he worked only 4 innings, allowing all the runs in a 9-1 defeat at Detroit. That will certainly not serve as confidence for tonight’s outing.
The Royals continue to do it with the same formula as last season. They are winning with small ball, including great defense, excellent work in the bullpen and smart play on the base paths. In addition to their offensive power makes this team well-balanced in the field and at the plate. Adding to those fundamentals is the fact this team remains very hungry. It is a tough combination to beat. It is also why they are one of the best road teams in MLB, earning our MLB picks tonight. Dating to last season, the Royals are on a road blitz of 31-13, including 5-2 this season. It is all part of the reason why they are on a 64-31 run as they enter tonight’s play.
With the Pitching Matchups are virtually even, this is a great value opportunity on the Royals again tonight. They are a great road team who well deserve the moniker of best team in the AL. Though I am releasing this game on the MLB odds money line, it is important to note that since the beginning of last season, 43 of 52 KC road wins have come by 2 or more runs, while for CWS, 35 of 44 home losses have come by 2 or more runs.
