We’re going to examine Monday’s AL Central series opener between Kansas City and Cleveland. Can the Indians put an end to their current streak of four losses in a row?

AL Central Series Opener in Cleveland
The Indians and Royals will kick off a three game AL Central Series at Progressive Field in Cleveland on Monday. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 PM ET. Kansas City has gone 5-4 versus Cleveland so far in 2015. All three encounters between these teams at Progressive Field have gone over the total.

Starting Pitchers
Edinson Volquez will be on the mound for Kansas City in this divisional series opener. Volquez has been very good during his last four starts posting a stellar 1.48 ERA. The Royals hurler has gone 14-6 in his team starts this season with a solid 3.15 ERA and 1.25 WHIP.

Cleveland’s Cody Anderson will be making his sixth start of the year today. He’s pitched very well since being called up from the minors, going 4-1 in his team starts, and compiling a shining 1.91 ERA. In his two starts at home, Anderson has a miniscule 0.63 ERA.

Royals are No Fluke
A lot of the experts weren’t convinced that Kansas City was for real prior to the start of the 2015 MLB campaign. However, I wasn’t one of them, and they were one of my sleeper picks at 10:1 MLB betting odds to win the American League pennant. The consensus picks were split pretty evenly between Detroit and Cleveland. Kansas City enters this week with an outstanding 59-38 (.608) record. They’re also a terrific 41-21 (.661) versus right-handed starting pitchers like they’ll be facing tonight.

Indians a major Disappointment
The Cleveland Indians were expected to be a major player in the AL Central race. They’ve been anything but that so far. Cleveland enters tonight trailing first place Kansas City by a distant 14.0 games. Adding insult to injury, they’re coming off being swept at home by the White Sox, and now find themselves in the bottom spot of the AL Central. The Indians have actually been a more than respectable 26-21 on the road in 2015. Unfortunately, they’ve buried themselves in the standings at home by going a dismal 19-31.

Final Analysis
The Royals pitching is second to none in the American League, and you can make a case that they’re the best in all of baseball. Kansas City has gone 5-0-1 under the total in their previous six games.

Cleveland scored a combined 5 runs during their recently completed four game series versus the White Sox. Lack of consistent offensive production has been an issue all season for “The Tribe”.

I like this game to be a low scoring affair for one of my MLB picks on Monday. provides us with the best price regarding this specific wager.
