The Dodgers are 14-3 L17 Friday games and with the surging Royals coming Dodger Stadium this weekend, riding the best home team in MLB in a fairly low-scoring game seems logical with runs coming so easy for the hosts and so hard for the visitors

Odds Overview

Kansas City Royals at Los Angeles Dodgers (FS-Kansas City, DTV 672, 10:10 p.m. ET): Right-hander Kenta Maeda and the Dodgers welcome RHP Jason Hammel and the Royals to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday night for Game 1 of a 3-game Interleague series. Sportsbooks offshore have opened Los Angeles solid-187 chalks (BetOnline) with the Total at 8o -115 (BetOnline) with the Dodgers -1½ at +100 and Kansas City +1½ -110 (Heritage) in the Run Line marketplace. Both Los Angeles (5-36) and the Royals (45-39) have been decent backing on the Run Line.

The Royals are slated to send Ian Kennedy (3-6) to the mound vs. Brandon McCarthy (6-3) on Saturday (7:15 pm ET) while Danny Duffy (5-4) will get the unenviable task of going up against Dodgers All-Star ace lefty Clayton Kershaw (13-2) on Sunday (4:10 pm ET) in their last games before the MLB All-Star Break. Luckily for LA, it looks like it will miss a start by Royals’ Cy Young candidate Jason Vargas (12-3, 2.62 ERA, 1.15 WHIP).

Kansas City Royals

The Royals (66/1 to win World Series, Heritage) have been playing some great Baseball of late (7-3 L10) and since June 10 (AL-best 18-6), but like four of the other five clubs in the AL Central, still have a negative Run Differential (-18 RD) with their 355 runs being the 2nd-lowest (for now) mark in the Junior Circuit (TOR, 349) into action Thursday. At Seattle on Wednesday, ace Vargas and Kansas City docked the Mariners, 9-6 (SEA -130, Pinnacle) in a game which saw Royals Manager Ned Yost have a Starting Lineup of: 2B Merifield, RF Bonifacio, CF Cain, 1B Hosmer, C Perez, 3B Moustakas, DH Soler, SS Escobar, LF Gordon with Vargas getting the start and victory for the visitors. Lorenzo Cain, Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas all homered for the Royals, who left an incredible 19 men on base.

Kansas City (18/1 to win AL, Bovada) is 5-1 L6 Friday games, 4-0 L4 vs. NL West, 20-8 the L28 overall and on Grass, 4-1 L5 vs. RHP Starter. The Over is 12-3-1 L16 Royals L16 Road games, 9-4 L13 Fridays while the Over is 5-0 L5 Kansas City Interleague games and 5-0 the L5 vs. the NL West.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers (+505 to win World Series, Heritage) and Manager Dave Roberts have the best Record in the National League (58-29) and the best Record in MLB at Home (36-11) as well as the best Run Differential (+156). On Thursday night, Los Angeles rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the Bottom of the 9th Inning to top the Diamondbacks, 5-4 for its 22nd come-from-behind win as Chris Taylor had the game-winning single and went 4-for-5. In Game 3 vs. the Diamondbacks, Los Doyers had a Starting Lineup of: 2B Forsythe, SS Seager, 3B Turner, LF Taylor, C Barnes, 1B González, RF Puig, CF Thompson with Rich Hill getting the pill and pitching wonderfully, allowing 2 Hits and 1 ER and striking out 9 in 7.0 IP in a No-Decision.

The Dodgers (+240 to win NL, Bovada) are 14-3 L17 Friday games, 5-0 L5 Maeda Friday Starts, 58-18 L76 Home vs. RHP Starter and 42-15 L57 on Grass. The Over is 10-1-2 L13 LA Home Games vs. Teams with Losing Road Records and 20-8-2 L30 Maeda Starts overall (13-5 L18 Home) while the Under is 5-2 L7 Dodgers IL games.

LA Weather, Trends, Best Side & Total Picks

The Weather Channel forecast for Dodger Stadium on Friday night calls for Partly Cloudy skies, a Low of 69° with Light and variable S Winds around 3 mph, so absolutely perfect. Hammel (4-7, 5.08 ERA) hasn’t made it 6 IP in his L2 Starts, allowing 6 ER on 9 Hits in 5.1 IP in his last outing while Maeda (6-4, 4.56 ERA) -- moved up from the Bullpen after Injuries to McCarthy and Ryu -- went 3.2 IP and allowed 8 Hits against the Padres in his last Start.

With the Royals just 4-12 L16 Starts by Hammel and Closer Kenley Jansen (1.01 ERA, 0.59 WHIP) and the Dodgers having W3 straight and going 44-16 L60 vs. Teams Losing Records and still playing such great Baseball, backing the hosts here and the Total Under -- the Under is 17-5 L22 LA Home games vs. Teams With Winning Records (KC 44-40) -- at 9 are the MLB picks for this series opener from Chavez Ravine.
