The Yankees visit the Rangers for the first of an early week set. How will this matchup end up and what is the best way to make a profit out of it? Find out here with my MLB picks.

New York Yankees (Nova)  vs. Texas Rangers (Harrison) 8:05
The New York Yankees visit the Texas Rangers for the first of an early week set. The first pitch is schedule for 8:05 Est. at the Ballpark at Arlington. This contest features the division leading Yankees, who have a 6- game lead on Toronto against the also ran Texas Rangers, who at 47-50 trail the Angels by 7- games for the division lead. Most disturbing for Texas is that their 16-26 home record features the fewest home wins of any team in MLB. This is also a match up of starting pitchers who’s former success has been clouded by recent surgeries.

The Texas Rangers have had a roller coaster season. A 29-15 spring burst was surrounded by an 8-16 start and a 6-18 slide. The Rangers won 4 straight before being clouted by LAA on Sunday by a score of 13-7.  Tonight they send Harrison to the mound, who has survived 3 back surgeries. In his initial start off the DL he lasted just 4 IP, allowing 6 runs in a 7-4 loss to Arizona. His next outing was far better.  In a 9-0 victory vs Colorado Harrison worked 6 IP scattering 7 hits.  His velocity has yet to return, leaving him vulnerable to the NYY bats that feature a .750 OPS, number 5 in MLB. With the Rangers recent winning streak snapped, their poor record at home, and Harrison a major question mark, the Rangers present a major play against opportunity tonight.

The Yankees had mini slumps of 3-6, 1-10 and 1-5. Between those has been more impressive streaks of 18-6, 11-3, and their current run of 21-12. This includes an 11-3 recent streak highlighted by the weekend sweep of Minnesota that evened the NYY road record at 25-25 (far superior to the home record of Texas). Much like his counterpart, Harrison, tonight’s NYY starter, Nova is working his way back from surgery. After needing the dreaded Tommy John surgery Nova has made 5 starts off the DL. Results have been most encouraging with a 3.34 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. None was more so however than his most recent outing, a 4-3 victory vs Baltimore in which he worked 6 IP allowing only 2 runs.

The New York Yankees are rolling and we are certainly not about to stand in their way. With Texas having the worst home record in baseball and Harrison a major question mark it is clearly worth laying the 3 nickels on the road to back my opinion.
