Road Warrior Underdog Giants The Sharp MLB Pick Over Cardinals

Sunday, June 5, 2016 2:53 PM GMT

Our MLB professional handicapper provides us with a betting preview on tonight’s Giants and Cardinals game. Go inside to read this intriguing article which concludes with a MLB pick.

Sunday Night Game
The Giants and Cardinals meet at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Sunday night. This nationally televised game is slated for 8:05 PM ET. This will be the finale and rubber match of a three game weekend series. San Francisco was a 5-1 winner on Friday, and St. Louis rebounded yesterday with a 7-4 victory.

Probable Starting Pitchers
Veteran right-hander Jake Peavy is scheduled to get the start tonight for San Francisco. Peavy was off to a horrific beginning to the 2016 MLB campaign. However, he’s seemed to have straightened things out in his last two outings. During those two starts, he’s posted a microscopic 0.66 ERA and 0.59 WHIP. Granted those came against weak hitting teams the likes of Atlanta and San Diego, but it certainly is an encouraging sign nonetheless.

Carlos Martinez is slated to be on the mound for St. Louis. Martinez is coming off a magnificent performance at Milwaukee, pitching 8.0 innings of scoreless baseball which resulted in a 6-0 Cardinals win. It must be noted, Martinez has struggled mightily in his last four starts at Busch Stadium, going 0-4, and posting a large 6.75 ERA in addition to a lofty 1.60 WHIP.

Underdog Betting Value Alert
Despite their loss on Saturday, San Francisco has gone 18-5 in its last 23 games overall, and is a stellar 19-12 (.613) on the road. The Giants are also a perfect 5-0 during its last five games following a loss. Contrarily, St. Louis is a dismal 6-16 over its last 22 games following a win, and has gone an uninspiring 14-16 at home this year.

MLB Money Line Betting Angle
Current MLB odds list St. Louis as a -145 money line favorite. The Cardinals are averaging an impressive 1.30 home runs hit per game. Carlos Martinez has compiled a sparkling 1.15 WHIP thus far in 2016. This sets up an extremely profitable MLB betting angle.

Any money line underdog of +115 to +165 (Giants), versus a National League opponent averaging 1.25 or more home runs per game, and their starting pitcher (Martinez) with a WHIP of 1.25 or less, resulted in those underdogs going 48-26 (64.9%) during the past five seasons. As a matter of fact, since the onset of 2014, it has gone an even better 33-15 (68.8%). I’m following this strong wagering system when making one of my Sunday MLB picks.
