Road Underdog Betting Value in Orioles vs. Nationals MLB Odds

The Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals have both grown accustomed to playing close ballgames, which provides the road underdog value in Monday night’s game.

A familiar result
Seven of Baltimore’s last eight games have been decided by one run, which is important to consider when looking over the MLB betting odds, as it comes off a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners as +112 home underdogs Sunday afternoon.

The Orioles own the worst batting average and on-base percentage in the American League since the All-Star break, but their pitching staff has upped its performance in compiling a 2.78 ERA over that span.

It’s important to point out that the club has put together a 27-21 record as road underdogs of +100 to +150, with the OVER mirroring that mark.

Amazing results
Washington owns a 3.5-game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the National League East standings, which is quite remarkable due to Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman both being in and out of the lineup due to injuries, but it has still managed to outscore opponents by 80 runs.

The Nationals tied for 20th in the Majors with 87 home runs, which has caused them to lean heavily on leadoff hitter Denard Span to create things offensively, as he’s reached base in 29 consecutive games.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the franchise is a mediocre 99-98 versus teams with a winning record.

Gausman
Orioles starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (5-3, 3.70 ERA) tallied a 4-3 home victory over the Los Angeles Angels last time out, as he allowed three runs and three hits over seven solid innings.

The right-hander is 1-1 with a 2.86 ERA in four road appearances—not surrendering a home run in 22 combined frames in that situation.

Gausman suffered a 9-3 setback in his only career start at Nationals Park, but don’t place too much stock in that result when making your MLB picks, as it was just his second professional appearance.

Roark
Nationals starting pitcher Tanner Roark (11-6, 2.76 ERA) will put his personal four-game win streak on the line, which includes a 4-3 road victory over the Miami Marlins last week—giving up a single run and three hits over seven frames.

The right-hander is 5-4 with a 1.94 ERA in 10 home outings, with opposing hitters batting .240 against him (.221 on the road).

Roark will be making his first lifetime start versus the Orioles.

Prediction
I’m going to recommend that readers back the Orioles as one of their MLB betting picks, as they’ve won five of Gausman’s last six outings as an underdog.

Baltimore improves to 16-7 in its last 23 games versus Washington, which fits nicely with its 1.32 bullpen ERA over its last 10 overall contests.
