The Rockies look to take the third of four games against Billy Hamilton and the Reds at Coors Field in Denver on Thursday afternoon, backing the shaky Tyler Chatwood and laying the lumber is the only look in this Game 4 from the Rocky Mountains.

Odds Overview

Cincinnati Reds at Colorado Rockies (FS-Ohio, DTV 660, 3:10 p.m. ET): RHP Sal Romano and the Reds (36-48) are in Coors Field in Denver to face RHP Tyler Chatwood and the reeling Rockies (50-37, 3-8 L11) on Thursday night in Game 4 of this 4-game NL series (CIN 7-20 L27 Games 4’s). Oddsmakers offshore have Colorado lined as -168 favorites (Bovada) with the Total at 12½ (JustBet) with the Rockies -1½ +110 with the Rockies +1½ -130 (BetOnline) in the Run Line marketplace. The Reds head in with the 5th-worst winning Percentage in MLB at 43.4% while Colorado (2-8 L10) has been the 4th most profitable team on which to bet so far this MLB Regular Season (+13.8 units).

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds have been the 2nd-worst team in the Senior Circuit on the Road (13-28, PHI 13-33 on Road) and Cincinnati’s -47 RD is third-worst in the NL, but it’s still hard to consider this team an automatic go-against. In Game 3 on Wednesday, Reds Manager Bryan Price had a Starting Lineup of: CF Hamilton, SS Cozart, 1B Votto, LF Gennett, 3B Suárez, RF Schebler, 2B Peraza, C Barnhart with Scott Feldman (7-6) getting the pill. Reds 2-3-4 hitters Zack Cozart, Joey Votto and Scooter Gennett all had 2 Hits in the loss.

Cincinnati (150/1 to win NL, Bovada) is 20-48 L68 Road games vs. teams with Winning Records, 32-65 L97 vs. the NL West and 7-18 L25 overall. The Over is 10-5-1 L16 Cincinnati Road games while the Under is 6-0 L6 overall and on Grass and 5-2 The Little Red Machine’s L7 Thursday dates.

Colorado Rockies

The Rockies and Manager Bud Black need to keep worrying, now 3 games behind Arizona and 7½ behind NL West-leading Los Angeles and need to possibly get used to hearing the words “Wild Card” being used in their vocabulary in the 2nd Half of the MLB season—although at this point in Time, no team in the Senior Circuit in 2nd place in a division outside the NL West has a Record better than .500. Against the Redlegs in Game 3 at 20th and Blake on Wednesday evening, Black had a starting nine of: CF Blackmon, CF Tapia, 1B Arenado, RF González, 1B Reynolds, SS Valaika, 2B Amarista, C Hanigan with Jon Gray starting. MLB All-Star game picks Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado went a combined 1-for-8 while Pitcher Gray blasted the longest Home Run (467.0 feet) by a hurler—the first of his MLB career—in the L3 years while Pat Valaika went 3-for-4 with a dimger for the Rox, who won, 5-3.

Colorado (7/1 to win NL, Bovada) is 3-13 L16 overall, 3-11 L14 on Grass but 9-3 L12 at Home. The Under is 5-0-1 L6 Colorado games vs. NL Central, 7-0 L7 Chatwood Starts vs. NL Central, 5-0 L5 Rockies games vs. RHP Starter and 7-0-1 L8 Colorado games played on Grass.

Denver Weather Forecast Thursday Afternoon, Series Trends

TWC forecast for Denver on Tuesday afternoon calls for a hot one with a High of 97° with Mainly Sunny skies, Scattered Thunderstorms with SSE Winds shifting to the North from 10 to 15 mph. This will be the first time that Romano (0-1, 6.67 ERA) has faced Colorado while Chatwood (6-9, 4.41 ERA) faced Cincinnati once with few PA’s, The Rox RHP did go 6.0 IP and allowed 2 Runs against the Giants in his last outing but has been hit hard at Home with a 6.39 ERA at Coors Field in 7 Home Starts. So Under bettors, beware. Hot temps, very thin air and a (called up from Triple-A Louisville) Romano vs. Chatwood (COL 1-4 L5 Chatwood Starts) matchup.

The Rox have been dominant in this series of late, going 33-15 L48 in Denver while the Over is 7-3 L10 meetings overall. Despite the great start, Colorado is just 3-7 L10 and have only a +28 RD, but with the Diamondbacks (52-33) and Dodgers (57-29) playing so well, Fear should motivate the hosts enough to win this getaway day game in the Rocky Mountains with Blackmon and Arenado probably providing more production at the plate against Romano. Purple wins.
