The 2014 MLB regular season picture has become much clearer after yesterday. Let’s see if we can finish out the regular season MLB picks in grand style with some cashing at the pay window.

Capper Catalano’s Record: 209-183 -19.52 Units
This has been a roller coaster of a season. After a winning day, we come back with a couple of losses. Felix Hernandez sure didn’t pitch like a king yesterday as we lose the under in the Toronto/Seattle game. The Mariners are simply finished.

We also lose a 2-Unit Play on yesterday's MLB Picks of the Day with the Yankees in a one run game that put an end to their post-season chances. Derek Jeter had a chance to tie the game up with 2 outs in the 9 inning, but struck out. How fitting of a career that spans 2 decades and is about to end.

San Francisco Giants (85-72) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (90-68)

Kershaw Freebies Are Almost Over
After a storybook season, this should be Clayton Kershaw’s last start in the regular season. He and the Dodgers are a huge -258 MLB odds favorite and I can’t see him losing this game. The only thing remaining for the Giants is to secure a wild card spot and one win will do it. This isn’t a must win situation; the Giants have that spot secure as the president being guarded by the secret service.

NL MVP and CY Young Awards
When the season is over, these awards will belong to the great Clayton Kershaw (20-3, 1.80) who has had one of the best season that we’ve seen in decades.

At this point, Kershaw is unstoppable and any team that he faces in the post-season will have to match him pitch for pitch because they’re going to have a tough time scoring off of him.

If there were any time for the Giants to beat Kershaw it would be tonight as he’s coming off of possibly his worst performance of the season. In his last start, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings against the Cubs and still won the game.

Another thing to take into account is the much improved Dodgers hitting. Matt Kemp is starting to become the Matt Kemp of old and Justin Turner is coming off of a 2 home run game against Madison Bumgarner as the Dodgers defeated the Giants last night.

I’m dying to fade the Dodgers here as this is a meaningless game to them. At worst for Kershaw, this game could be left up to the bullpen. With most of the public on Kershaw like they always are, I’m taking Tim Hudson and a Giants team that want to clinch a wild card spot.

Free MLB Pick: San Francisco +238 at 5 Dimes

Seattle Mariners (83-74) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (80-77)

Folding Up Like A Cheap Tent
This is exactly what the Seattle Mariners are doing when they have a chance to earn a Wild Card berth in the post season after almost 6 months of playing baseball. If the Mariners can’t win with Felix Hernandez against a Jays team that appears to love to play the spoiler role, then why would they win with Taijuan Walker (2-2, 3.00) against a very underrated Mark Buehrle (12-10, 3.53) ?

Buehrle and the Blue Jays are a mere -114 betting favorite after Toronto has outscored Seattle 24-6 in their last 2 games which were both wins. This looks like a great spot to pick Toronto.

Master Blaster
Jose Bautista might not have 40 home runs like Nelson Cruz, but he’s done it clean and under no suspicion. Bautista has been clutch all season long for Toronto and he’s been coming up big in huge spots lately. In his last 4 games, Bautista is 8 for 12 with 10 runs scored, 2 HR, 4 RBI, and 5 walks. Bautista always has a great on- base percentage because opposing pitchers fear him and would rather give him a free pass. Even though he hits left-handed pitchers much better than right handed pitching, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jose Bautista puts the dagger in the heart of Seattle at the Rogers Centre and ends their playoff chances.

Free MLB Pick: Toronto -114 at 5 Dimes 3 Unit Play (a risky sports pick to make, but "no risk, no reward" and Seattle has shown no heart whatsoever)
