Are the Dodgers in trouble after looking like the team to beat just two weeks ago? Join us for a free baseball pick in their Friday night collision with the Colorado Rockies.

Any Los Angeles Dodgers fans who weren’t worried about their team’s recent slide before Thursday, chances are they are very worried this morning. The Colorado Rockies, who have have won 3-of-4 this week, pounded LA ace Clayton Kershaw in the opener of a 4-game set last night to hand the Dodgers their 7th-straight loss and 12th setback in the last 13 contests.

Though not quite as thick of chalk as the -330 money line on Thursday, Los Angeles is once again a considerable favorite Friday behind Yu Darvish (8-11, 4.09) with the Dodgers listed -185 at Bookmaker. German Marquez (10-6, 4.26) gets the ball for Colorado, and 8 is the scoreboard target.

Strong ‘Under’ Trends For Both Hurlers

Marquez lost his last time out to stop what had been a 3-game win streak for the Rockies behind their young Venezuelan. The righty served up a couple of homers at Coors to the Diamondbacks to account for most of the damage in the 5-1 Arizona victory. He’s been a solid play over the course of 2017, however, Colorado 15-9 when he takes the mound for 6.4 units of profit. Playing the MLB odds ‘under’ has also been a moneymaker, his starts sitting 7-16-1 O/U/P as he prepares for his first assignment of the year vs. LA.

Darvish has fallen his last two starts, the latest a whipping in San Diego where he allowed the Padres five runs in three innings of a 7-2 setback. That left the Dodgers and Rangers a combined 12-15 in his appearances, and down more than 10 units at the window. Darvish has also been a key contributor to ‘under’ bettors, his 27 assignments running 8-18-1 O/U/P, and tonight will be his career cherry against the Rockies.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Jim Reynolds calls the offerings of Darvish and Marquez plus their relief help tonight, the Massachusetts native trending a bit to the ‘under’ lately after a strong midseason pull to the high side of totals. Currently 14-10-2 O/U/P, Reynolds had the plate about six weeks ago at Dodger Stadium, that contest just sliding past the number after his previous three games behind the mask on this diamond fell short.

Clear skies and 72° on the thermometer greets the start of tonight’s game. Last night’s ‘over’ winner went against the grain when these clubs have gotten together in LA recently, 15 of the last 20 contests here never reaching the totals. I’m going to side with Marquez and Darvish to return things to the norm with a free baseball pick on the ‘under.’
