The MLB postseason is underway after an excellent betting season. Moneylines have been a big hit as we continue to look for value on the MLB odds board with the pitching matchups. We have the Braves on upset alert today.
Cincinnati Reds vs. Atlanta Braves
Thursday, October 01, 2020 – 12:08 PM EDT at Truist Park
- Cincinnati: Louis Castillo (4-6 3.21 ERA)
- Atlanta: Kyle Wright (0-0 5.21 ERA)
Game 1 of this best-of-three series was one for the purest baseball fans out there. A 13-inning slugfest that ended in a 1-0 win for the Braves was a pitching duel that featured 17 hits but shockingly the minimum number of runs possible. The Reds had multiple opportunities to win and outhit the Braves but fell apart.
They're now in a tough hole without one of their two aces starting. Louis Castillo has been excellent this season outside of two games, and it's fair to expect him to do well again. But the offense only had to do the least output possible and still failed, including converting on having runners on first and third with no outs.
This anemic offense has to come out and perform against Kyle Wright and the league's top offense. While this is a daunting task statistically because of the offense, one game can lead to one-off results. The Reds are a decent team that either puts it all together or loses badly. Wright has struggled dearly this year and is vulnerable to another poor outing.
The slate is bare with good underdog options because starting pitchers weren't announced, but this is a line that makes sense for my MLB picks regardless. Cincinnati can hang with Atlanta and give us a nice return on a modest bet for an early-afternoon game.
