Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox have won five of their last seven games, but they're coming off a tough 3-2 loss in the series opener against the New York Yankees. David Ortiz hit a two-run home run in the first inning off Michael Pineda, his 50th home run against the Yankees and Rick Porcello gave up three runs and six hits in seven innings.

The Red Sox currently rank 5th in the majors with 147 runs scored, 1st with a .283 batting average and 18th with 26 home runs. Boston is 18th in MLB with a 4.14 ERA and 15th with a 1.32 WHIP.

New York Yankees
The Yankees had lost seven of their previous eight games and at 10-17, they're off to their worst start since 1991. Aaron Hicks hit a tiebreaking home run off Rick Porcello to lead off the seventh inning, and it proved to be the difference as the New York bullpen shut the door on Boston.

The Yankees rank 29th in the majors with just 89 runs scored, 27th with a .232 batting average and 25th with 23 home runs. New York is ninth in MLB with a 4.39 ERA and 13th with an 1.29 WHIP.

Pitching Matchup
David Price (4-0, 6.14 ERA) vs. Nathan Eovaldi (1-2, 5.46 ERA)
David Price starts for the Red Sox. His 4-0 record is tricky because of his high 6.14 ERA. Price faced the Yankees in his last start, giving up six runs over seven innings, but it was enough to help Boston win 8-7. That outing sums up his season so far, but run support could be an issue in time, although his bad pitching will end as well.

Nathan Eovaldi takes the hill for the Yankees. He faced off with Price in Sunday's game and struggled, allowing six earned runs and 10 hits over five innings. He got a no-decision, but still, he isn't pitching according to the expectations that the Yankees had for him ahead of this season. Eovaldi has given up at least three runs in four of his five starts this season.

Betting Trends
The Red Sox are 3-0 in road games with a money line of -100 to -125, 9-4 in road games and 16-8 against right-handed starters.

The Yankees are 5-7 in home games, 2-2  when playing on Saturday, 4-8 against division opponents and 3-8 against left-handed starters.

Final Analysis
The Boston Red Sox are favored on the MLB odds board at -122 while the New York Yankees are at +102 and the total has been set at 7.5. The Red Sox are playing better baseball despite Friday's loss and Price, their best pitcher, is struggling, yet he is 4-0. Price will start pitching better soon, and he has always thrived at Yankee Stadium, which is one of the reasons why the Red Sox signed him. Eovaldi hasn't turned a corner so far and it won't happen against this strong Boston lineup. I'm taking the Red Sox -122 with my MLB picks.
