Baltimore battered Steven Wright in Boston less than two weeks ago, but the knuckleballer should get revenge tonight as a small underdog on the MLB odds at Camden Yards.

After opening the series with a win, the Baltimore Orioles look to maintain their AL East lead with another dubya tonight when their set against the Boston Red Sox continues. First pitch at Oriole Park is scheduled for 7:05 PM (ET) with rookie Jayson Aquino toiling on the hill for Baltimore opposite Boston's Steven Wright. It's another tightly-lined contest as BetOnline makes the Orioles to be -111 favorites and 9 for the total.

Dylan Bundy and three relievers blanked the Sox in a 2-0 decision Friday to get the series started, a game that closed near a pick 'em on the MLB odds. The final fell well short of an 8½ run total after scoreboard betting ran 3-6-1 O/U/P in Charm City a year ago. Friday's triumph was just the third in the last 11 games here for the O's.

Birds Blasted Wright In Boston 10 Days Ago

Ah, the life of a knuckleballer. Wright's three experiences so far in 2017 have run the full spectrum from very bad to pretty good and something in between, and the good news is the 32 year old is coming off the good side of that with six innings of work in a win over Tampa Bay last week. Unfortunately, the bad news is the ugly assignment came against the Orioles about 10 days ago at Fenway Park where Baltimore batters banged four homers before Wright was sent to the showers just one out into the second inning. But back to the good news which is he had pitched well against the O's before that and went the distance for a win in his only start at this park.

Baltimore is recalling lefty Jayson Aquino from the minors to make this start, the first of his MLB career that has so far included just three scoreless relief appearances last season. Two of those outings did come against the BoSox, the young Dominican getting three strikeouts among the five total outs he was credited for. Aquino made two starts at Triple-A before this assignment, splitting the decisions and whiffing 11 in nine frames.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

This is the same umpire crew that worked the Indians-Twins series earlier this week, and chief Joe West is still missing. That means Hunter Wendelstedt, who is behind the dish this evening, is acting crew chief and brings a 3-1 O/U record into the contest. Home teams, however, are 1-3 so far, and 0-2 when the money line is in the -101 to -120 range.

Showers are all over the Baltimore area this morning and could linger to cause a slight delay in getting this one started. They should move on so the game can be played, with temps in the low-50s most of the evening and only a slight NNW breeze (in fro left-center).

Meanwhile, I keep raining losses with my free baseball picks, so please feel free to fade my play on Boston to level the series.
